Same here , timeouts, disconnects, usless tech support, usless service. almost 3 weeks into the problem now. hopefully it will last the 30 days so I can end the contract without paying any penalties.
In my view Orange is not equipped on ALL fronts to be an ISP.
They shoudl stick to mobiles.
I have just this minute switched to o2 (now Sky)'s ADSL 2+ service and the browsing speed is absolutely lightening. I click on a link and within a milisecond the next screen is there. Its quicker than some of my customer networks all for £7 a month!

Transition to 02 was very smooth. Downtime was only about 20 minutes although the service was up and running before 02 let me know. THey dont use usernames and passwords in their routers so its a lot easier.

Firstly can I say that NOT for a moment am I sticking up for Orange in any way but...
For a week or so I've been having horrendously connections. I noticed this morning though that p2p, email and ftp were all running a fair speed and just http was slow. I checked another machine (I have a small network) and it ran normally.
Anyway, after a lot of prodding and swearing I traced what I think is the problem to Blue Coat K9 internet filtering software as after I uninstalled it and rebooted the machine the problem was gone.
As I said it's not a solution for everyone but it certainly helped here,
There are currently 2 other factors that may be influencing internet performance, universities finished up on 19th and 3 out 4 communication cables have been severed in the Med. curtailing phone/internet to/from Asia.
