I've been having loads of connection problems on my PS3 recently. Is anyone else having similar problems too?
After maybe 5 or 10 minutes of being online I get error 8002A548 which is "connection to server lost" and I have to login again only for it to disconnect me again a few minutes later. This mostly happens in the evening, after about 11pm things seem to improve and by midnight the problem goes away (at least I can stay online for longer than a few minutes - everything still seems to run really slow though).
All the games I have are really laggy too - LBP is unplayable online, COD4 and COD5 feel like I'm a few seconds behind the action all the time. I also have a PC and this is totally unaffected but I only use it for email and web.
PSN uses UDP for connectivity - could Orange be using some traffic shaping or filtering which interferes with the way PS3 games work? If so, who do I complain to about this?
I've checked my PS3 and Livebox config and tried to make everything as simple as possible (static IP, UPNP, etc.) but this makes no difference. I currently get an ADR of around 4800kbps and it's ADSL2+ so I don't think it's a bandwidth problem.
Would a replacement router instead of a Livebox make any difference? I don't want to buy another router if I will still get the same lag and disconnection problems.
I have had similar problems, see the last post. I downloaded the free version of visual route yesterday. http://visualroute.visualware.com/ It graphically shows the time taken between each hop from your pc to the final server u want. From my understanding of what it shows the problem seems to be mostly in the 'hops' rather than the first hop from my machine, so i dont think there is anything i can do.
Same problem, however everything else works fine (incl. XBL) only PSN struggles. Mine seemingly got worse when i got a Home Beta invite, but that could be coincidental.
