I'd say that it's very likely the same problem.. the other thing i could add is that I can go into my neighbor's house next door at 7 - 9pm and he gets normal ping and can play the exact same games on his 360 with no lag or problems. I can also stream live video at full speeds on my laptop without any problems or fluctuations... yet it's nearly unusable through my Orange connection. He is with 02 broadband and receives the same quoted speed as me 6.5MB
All i can suggest is getting on to Orange. I e-mailed them through the link on this site to start it off and ruled out every possible suggestion that they normally come back with (reset the livebox, power cycle, filters etc.) saying that I had already done these things - and surprisingly they acknowledged that. I would normally expect them to ignore those things and still come back with the usual company lines.
This also is not the only forum where people are complaining actively about this issue with Orange - it's obviously a widespread problem.
Good grief, this is annoying. A week now this has been happening and Orange technical support are less than helpful. Reset your connection...yes I've done that many times. Reset your router....yes I've done that, many times. Try this speed test:
And get the server is busy message all night. Sick of it now, changing ISP's in January - If they had the courtesy to tell me what had happened I would take it on the chin but it's the fact they're spineless that riles me.
