It's quite amusing really that emails I get from Orange go straight into my Junk mail folder labelled as Spam! especially the ones from the new Website maker.
So it pays to check the Junk folder every now and then.

I amazes me that these people can't even send out an email to all registered users (for whatever service - not just Mysite), although I've noticed on several occasions that this seems to be the case.
"Registered Orange" users are given the option when registering for the broadband and dialup services to opt out of receiving emails from Orange. They therefore don't receive communication of any changes, regrade options, new packages, competitions etc.
Most people when registering for products from companies click the option not to receive further email or telephone communication as they think they will be spammed with junk mails, or be cold called incessantly. I, for one, invariably click not to receive communication/updates, but regularily check web sites for details of new packages/discounts etc.
Conversely, a lot of people complain about receiving these "unsolicited" mails, because they didn't choose the option not receive communications (most just skim through registration pages).
In these circumstances they can change their current privacy settings for electronic mail by unsubscribing to the address provided in each message or by opting in to receive those messages by contacting Orange, and for other companies by contacting the Mail Preference Service via that companies website.
If anyone wants to stop receiving telemarketing calls from Orange or other companies, they should contact the Telephone Preference Service on 0845 0700707 or email the TPS and register their phone number/s. This takes on average about 6 weeks to implement, but only works for calls from the UK.

I still get emails on the secondary email address you give them when signing up even though I am no longer a paying customer

That's helpful thanks. I've given 110mb a go but it's unreliable, down again this morning and if I try to go to 110mb.com it gets redirected to a women's nude wrestling site!
Well, its the 7th and my mysite is still up, by this time on the 25th it had gone...
I was looking back at this thread and re-read Jo's oriiginal postings. I would have thought Orange were on shaky legal ground. In the Terms and Conditions of Use:
7.3 Orange reserves the right to suspend or terminate the Service at any time. Orange shall endeavour to provide Users with as much notice as reasonably practicable given the context of each event which may require the Service to be suspended and/or terminated.
I would not have said less than one month was "as much notice as reasonabily practical", especially in relation to an 18 month contract. It must have taken them much more than one month to set this up.
If they are invoking clause 7.4 to justify 30 days notice
7.4 In the event that either Orange or the User terminates this Agreement, the web space allocated to the User on the Orange Servers will be retained for a period of 30 days whereupon any Web Pages stored will be permanently deleted.
then does this not imply that "Orange or the User [ have ] terminate[d] this Agreement" - in which case we should be free of the remainder of any 18 month contract
One of mysites is there but the others are being, incorrectly, redirected to nowhere. Orange said they would redirect sites to the new website maker if the site names could be recognised, so I set up pages with the same names hoping they would be redirected to them but they've got it wrong, on the new sites the name comes first then website Orange but they have put it at the end without a stop or slash? as below:
Is the "original" 15MB "uploads.webspace.freeserve.net" affected by this change or not???? The email is less than clear. If so, I need to find new hosting, and quick before they delete all the data on Monday!
My Freeserve webspace is still up and running, after my "MySite" space had been taken down a few days ago.
The information I got from Orange/Wanadoo some time back indicated that the Freeserve sites are hosted elsewhere, and certainly Orange will tell you that they do not support it.
If you want to access it, and have a Livebox, just make sure you have your software firewall enabled, then disable the Livebox firewall (set to "LOW")
You will need to set to "active" mode for transfers in your FTP software.
OK, let me get this right.
I don't get emails from Orange BTW.
Orange have deleted all the ftp websites????????
I've just started getting emails saying that people can't access my sites "server not found".
I had no idea that they were stopping the service and I've been running charity websites for a disability group for years vis Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange.
Have they just been deleted and are gone forever?
Much of the stuff I don't have any more and it's important stuff.
I suppose I could reconstruct something again but there's years of work on the original site PLUS the fact that my www address is redirected there and I have no idea how to change that.
Ha! Another "who cares for the customer" strike for Orange (just after I've signed on for unlimited broadband for the next 18 months!

Yes, if you were using the "Mysite" service, it will have gone I'm afraid. It might be worth contacting Orange to see if they can supply you with a copy of the files, but it's a long shot. If you didn't get an email - and I only got one about a week before the original switchoff, although I'd already heard about it here - it might be worth trying to use that as a lever with them.
If, on the other hand, you were using the "old" webspace, which gave an address like www.joebloggs.freeserve.co.uk, or for that matter www.joebloggs.orangehome.co.uk, then you should find that that's still working. However, the messages you've been getting make it sound as though you were, unfortunately, using Mysite.

I only discovered my Orange hosted Mysite website (which I've had through Freeserve and Wanadoo as ISPs) had gone yesterday. I have received no notification that this was going to happen.
Orange technical support directed me to http://www.orange.co.uk/sitebu...r/ftp.htm, but that's no use as the "upgrade my site" option merely results in "page cannot be displayed".
I have dropped an email complaint via the Orange "email & communicate" help, but don't expect much joy there.
Who can I write to to complain about this (assuming it's game over for my 6 year old web site)?
The only reason I stayed with Orange as an ISP was my well established website, and ease of the FTP facility!
Just received the following response from Orange (mysite.response@uk.orange.com):
I can confirm that all sites that are registered with the FTP MySite and
Sitebuilder service closed on 07/08/08. All users were notified of this
change via email in July.

Have you tried looking on the Wayback machine ( http://www.archive.org/web/web.php ) ? If your site dates back to 2007 you may find some of your pages have been archived - you can then use the Save Page As option to save the page to disk. Unfortunately larger images tend not to be archived.
