I am on Orange wireless and I know that someone outside is using it to access the internet. It could be a neighbour or someone very close.
My questions are.........
a) Is it possible to find out who it is?
b) How do I protect my wifi connection from these people?
c0 What do I do if I find out who they are?
Are you using a livebox or another router (some come by default with the SSID set to broadcast and set to unsecured). Change your SSID and make it hidden, change the key and make it WPA not WEP, change wireless so only authorised MAC addresses can connect.
Unless it's someone sitting outside your house with a laptop, it's going to be hard to find them, so just tighten up your security immediately

Sorry I can't help much cos I don't own one any more. I remember the side of the box saying "WEP key", but I seem to remember elhana saying this could be made WPA also. If you change the key, it may reset itself if you do a factory reset
PS Where is Elhana these days - is she OK?

No, there's no way that would show up on your computer......suspect the other half or a daughter ????
To my knowledge, the only way to identify if someone is using your connection is by download amounts....this is the main reason for hijacking somebody's wireless connection.
Someone sharing your connection by using another computer would not result in search terms being stored on your PC - not under any circumstances. You're not using "Google" to mean "search with some other search engine", are you? I say that because some (see www.cuil.com , for instance) use predictive search terms nowadays. [/b]

I presume you're finding the search words in the History tab if so then your computer has been used for the search and it's nothing to do with somebody accessing your wireless router.
If it's a laptop........have you left it unattended anywhere ?
