I keep having a drop in connection and to get it back i have to factory reset, and sometimes not even that works. I cant browse any webpages but MSN messenger still works, even for webcam.
When i repair the connection in Vista, it tells me that there is a problem with the DNS (Domain Name Server)
Is anyone else getting the same problem as it is really starting to get on my nerves now. Have been in the Orange waiting queue for 40 mins but no answer. I live in the Birmingham area
Having the same problem here, we have one hardwired PC and Three wireless laptops, livebox lights are all solid and icon in system trays show as connected on all machines however we keep having spells where none of the machines can access any web sites, service comes back but then disappears again after a while, problem started this morning, we're in Chesterfield, Derbys.
Not tried to contact helpdesk yet but if you've been unable to get through it would suggest maybe a national problem.
Once there, type the URL of the web address you want to go to. You will get a page displaying information about that website, scroll down and you should see a picture of the page you typed in and next to that is the IP Address. Copy and paste that into the address bar and it will work fine ... untill you come to a website where you have to sign in at least!
Same here. No obvious problems with my internet (all lights that should be on are on) but the internet is selective about what websites it shows yet MSN works fine.
I'm semi-relieved that others are suffering the same sort of bad service and yet I dread calling Customer Services as they are buffoons and totally incompitent.
Does anyone else experience a really slow browser? I've tried using both FireFox and Explorer and when I click on certain favourites / bookmarks I experience a serious amount of slow down and often the page won't load.
I'm amazed that I'm able to look around on this forum actually.
11 minutes and counting with no pickup on the helpdesk yet. Am I wasting my time? I'm convinced it's a DNS server issue because I can ping 195.92.195.94 and 195.92.195.95 and get a response. Pinging the ones that are in use by the livebox (193.36.79.101 and 193.36.79.100) gives me nothing at all. No ping response.

I hate the helpline, it's anything but a help. I usually call the broadband status information; if they say "they're not aware of any problems" then I figure the helpline staff will be just as blind.

Oh aye. Worth a shot though. Because apart from someone in Orange picking up on the problem themselves, how else would they ever find out there was a problem with their service? Mind you, never had any help from them before and I don't think it's about to change.

So very true, if they do by some miracle actually have an answer or confirm there is an issue with the service, think you can tell us? It'd be good to know.

Soooo.
I got through. They acknowledged that there was a problem, in fact with their DNS servers; the guy asked me if I had a solid @ light, I said yes, he then asked if I was getting "page cannot be displayed" errors, I said yes, and that's when he said there was an outage with one of their servers - in this case more than one, but whatever.
I asked for a fix time, he said 1-2 hours and then after 2 hours switch off the livebox for 2 minutes and then switch it back on.

I'm waiting with baited breath.
Oh how gracious of them to acknowledge it! Sounds like a miracle to me that they even admitted to anything...
So 1-2 hours. Yeesh I really wish that Orange had paid more attention to the criticisms of Watchdog when they said Orange was voted the WORST provider in the country.

Since then they've hardly made up for it.
Yeah, I'm looking to jump ship but I think I'll hold on until I move flat. Whilst I'm happy to admit that I went with the service because it tied in well with my mobile tariff, I don't think they'll be too happy to give me the same benefit if I go to a sim only tariff and threaten to leave. Oh well.

Yeah but if the internet service is this bad, sometimes jumping ship is necessary. I wish I knew a decient place to complain to within the Orange Company, but I'm not convinced.
