Havent had my orage bb for long and already im getting pi**ed off with it. Im running vista ultimate 64 and before the livebox iv never had any problems with wireless networking. Since installing my Orange package iv noticed the broadband drops off frequently, sometimes as frequent as every 15-30mins. Sometimes it drops to "private network" where there is only local access and no internet, sometimes it kicks me off altogether. Sometimes it kicks me off and i gotta restart the computer to get back on cos vista gives me the "cannot connect to livebox xxx" problem. Tried changing the livebox wireless channel, no joy. Tried installing the latest belkin wireless pci drivers, no joy. Tried disabling my firewall (kaspersky), no joy. Tried someones "disable ipv6" on wireless adapter, no joy. Im pretty good at computers and from what i can see iv done everything right and im loosing my mind with this thing.
Anyone come up with a working solution to this???? yes i have the latest firmware on the livebox by the way
cable is solid as a rock, no drop off or owt. The livebox is only about 2 metres from my computer (in the next room) but it would be nice to make use of the wireless properly so i dont have cables on the floor

So that could mean either there's some wireless interference in the near vicinity or a wireless comms problem between your PC and the router.
Any dect cordless phones near ?
Has the BT linebox and any extension boxes still got any wires other than 2 and 5 connected ?
I'm experiencing a similar problem where the connection drops for no apparent reason. I'm shown as being connected despite not being able to access a website.
Solution - Click on View Available networks (I'm on XP but I'm sure Vista is similar), disconnect from the Livebox and then reconnect. Things should be fine again with websites now accessible.
Ok, it's not a definitive fix but it's way faster than rebooting the livebox.
After months of wrestling with the issue of wireless disconnections, I finally found out what worked for me - and I shall share it!
a Windows XP tickbox that needs unticking, as the livebox does NOT "supply the authentication key automatically".
You find it here: Wireless network connection status>>properties>> (now highlight the livebox connection)>>properties>> untick the box mentioned above.
It worked for me - hope it helps others too. Good luck. P
Peterv can you clarify where that box is to untick? i cant find it anywhere
Havent been too bothered about the drop offs for a while as i started using the wired connection. Now iv moved house and my computer is too far away from the telephone line to use wired.
I've tried EVERYTHING and its p*****g me off big time
It appears many people have been having this problem and many have had no luck ringing Orange for "technical support" as they tell you the problem is everything but their livebox.
Orange will you ever listen and sort this crap out!?!?!?!?
