Just bought a ps3 last week, presumed it would be easy to connect to my wireless internet, as I have been able to connect a laptop to it before now....
Anyway, I have tried EVERYTHING, ringing playstation, ringing Orange but still not got anywhere fast
Also have been told, fiddling with the settings might result in my ps3 working but then my laptop wont be able to connect, ?
Basically what happens is it picks up the signal as 80% strength then i enter the wep key and it goees to test connection and it says "failed timed out".....
My livebox does have firewall etc, but when i go to turn it off it still wont connect, ive tried re-setting the ps3 and the livebox but it doesnt make any difference
Really at my witts end with this, any help greatly appreciated

Should be really easy if you follow the guide .
First of all, go to http://configuration.adsl and log in. (Default username is admin and password is admin - consider changing it if you haven't.) Click 'Configuration', 'Advanced', 'Wireless'. Here, take note of the Livebox name: Like Orange - 0000 or WANADOO-0000 and change the security to 'WEP security only'. (This will be changed back once the livebox is paired). Also, changed the wireless pairing time to '--' (unlimited). Again, you can change with back once the Livebox is paired with the PS3. Click Submit.
Then, go to 'Security', 'Wireless Connection'. Note down your WEP secturity key. 26 characters long, eg: 0123456789ABCDEF1234567
Go to your PS3 Cross Media Bar (XMB), go to settings, network settings, Internet Connection Settings. Say yes when it says you will be disconnected (may not appear if connecting first time).
Select wireless.
Select scan.
A list of wireless networks should appear. Select the one with the SSID of your Livebox name (ORANGE-0000, etc.) and the security should be WEP. Signal strength should be at least 30% for a continuous connection. If not, move the Livebox closer to the PS3 or open a few doors.
Select this wireless network.
Check the SSID. and continue.
In WLAN Security Setting, select WEP.
Type in the 26 character WEP key. (Use the L2 button to shift to the numbers faster)
Continue and select 'Easy'.
Test connection should then work.
Are you puting the livebox in pairing mode (press button one) first?
yes have tried pressing the '1' buttonn, what else i was going to say, where you say to type admin then admin again, are you sure that will work, can you set a new one? im sure it asks for an email address ?
also is there a chance if i start fiddling with all this that it will mess up the connectiion ive already got with my laptop

If you go to http://configuration.adsl and log in as username admin and password admin it should work and no, it won't ask for a e-mail address. I have read somewhere on here that they managed to lose their laptop access when configering their PS3 but that may just be a one-off as noone else seems to be having laptop/PS3 issues.
Let us know how you get on.
