Hey atsgmo, that's good to hear. Any chance you might be willing to share the letter you sent (minus your personal details) as a template that I could use please? There's no way I can afford £100 right now.
Thanks
Basically I was very apologetic for having discarded the livebox, and acknowledged that I had not read the small print which made clear that I would need to return it. But I explained that when I called to cancel my contract the operator had not told me that I would need to return the Livebox, despite me asking repeatedly for her to confirm that I no longer had any liabilities towards Orange- which she did. I also suggested that they incorporate this important info into their future training.(this was all true)
I then said that I despite my error in throwing it away, I was still annoyed at being charged £100 when I the reason why I cancelled the subscription was because of the poor service I received from Orange and the fact that my Livebox never gave me a good wireless connection ( which was also all true)
I then said that I hope they understood my reasons for writing, and asked if they would consider perhaps reducing the amount I would need to repay them, and looked forward to hearing from them.
They called and wrote back two weeks later saying that the fee had been waived.Perhaps they are used to people writing stroppy letters and were pleased to get a polite and apologetic one. Anyway, good luck and let me know how you get on.
