Hi - I wonder if some kind soul could advise on the following.
I'm trying to set up a Livebox for my parents. They don't understand computers at all and my brother's done it in the past but is not contactable right now. They've recently moved house. It all worked fine at the last house but so far no luck in the new one.
Orange say that they've moved the broadband service over to the new house, that happened 2 days back apparently.
The Livebox is plugged into the phone line, there is a filter on the line, the broadband cable is plugged into the correct Livebox port. There is a network cable from the Livebox 'red' port to an 'Ethernet' port on the PC. There is power to the Livebox.
The Livebox lights show the power light (on all the time), the @ light (flashing quicker than once a second I think) and, when the PC is switched on, the >> light flashing now and then.
Connection to the internet and email don't work as they used to and I can't work out what could be causing this. Any ideas?
Does the flashing >> light mean that there is a signal getting from the PC to the Livebox? How can I check that Orange really have moved the broadband over as they say they have?
Any help much appreciated, I've never had to do anything like this before.

Thanks, I've seen that before. It doesn't really tell me what the problem is though - I think the connections are OK and there may or may not be a signal reaching the PC from the internet, I've no way of knowing. Any other ideas - does the setup sound correct?
Setup sounds ok from what you've said, but make sure if there are any other phone sockets being used that they have filters too. The broadband cable to the livebox should plug into the socket nearest to the power.
The lights show the livebox isn't detecting a signal or is simply unable to connect to it.
If you can try plugging the filter into the test socket, it's behind the lower half of the main phone socket, as this gives the best signal and removes the house wiring from the equation.
To check the connection between the PC and livebox put 192.168.1.1 into internet explorer, it should bring up a livebox page showing it's connection status.
