Some progress, did all you said. However got to bit box pops up for Connect to 192.168.01, type in my username - the one I was given with syntax username.orangehome.co.uk@fs, then my password, hit enter and password box goes blank as if wrong password??
Thanks for that, however same thing happens. Rtpe in "admin" then "password". The password box goes blank again as if its asking for the password again.
Its my own router from new which I got from Sky when I was with them. The router has a SSID and Network Key and its states Chennel 11. They reset when when you switch the power off so wouldn't have thought that would be problem and shouldn't affect ability to connect to admin login.
Just in case this has got anything to do with it, this is what I am doing.
1) Unplug all cables from Orange (Siemens) Router. I am opearting this on Channel 6.
2) Connect Netgear router. It powers up and computer picks up all the settings for IP Address etc.
3) Type 192.168.0.1 into browser and pop up box appears for the Login and Password.

Try login in as username admin and password type in Sky i think you will find that Sky use their own firmware so you will probably have to flash it with the original firmware is the router a DG834GT?

Aha, that works, I'm now on the Netgear page. What happens next. Can't see any of things mentioned earlier such as setup wizard and the various settings mentioned.
Nearly there I think, just need to know what to inut on Netgear page.

Do you know if it has the Netgear firmeware in it or the Sky firmware as you will probably have to install the original Netgear firmware first if you let me know the model number of your router i will point you in the right direction.

The GT is one of the best Netgear ones, if you go to the router status page at the very top it will tell you what firmware is in it.
btw the set up wizard should be top of page in the left pain.

No set up wizard on menu. Under SETUP it just has option for status page. Should I just download latest firmware. I take it that the set up wizard would configure it to my Orange Broadband??

Try this unplug the router from the mains at the back, theres a little hole on the back which is the reset button u will need a pin or a pen push it in and at the same time put the mains wire back in keep the reset button in for at least 10 seconds release it and let it boot up go back to that link and download the recovery utility the instructions should be on the site where u download the firmware, you need to put the firmware u downloaded inside the same folder as the recovery utility then double click the UpgradeWizard .exe file and follow the prompts select the correct network adaptor it lists, the device list will show up, it should show the routers MAC address. Click next. verify the info is correct click next and on the upgrade screen click upgrade for the process to start let it finish it should be successful, then once its done try and access the router if you can't do the reset process again then unplug and plug the router back in and you should be able to access it.

AFAIK Sky routers are locked down to some degree. If Steve's suggestion doesn't help you may want to search specifically for how to put the normal firmware onto it or unlock it.
