hi, hoping someone can help me with this problem cos Orange arnt being very helpful in the tech dept (even after 5 hrs!!!) and keep blaming BT.
i recently received my livebox after 3 months of waiting. set it all up and away i went. it was ok for about 3 weeks if that and then every other day i had to call the tech dept to find out why the @ light was flashing and have to go thru a reset procedure, anyway its back on now but i've lost my landline! if i plug my phone direct into the wall it works but as soon as its put thru the filter i get a dial tone for about 10 secs then its gone (just an intercom type tone) i've tried another filter but its the same. dont know what the problem is and BT have said that the line is fine and have checked that myself. i only have the b/band and a phone (no Sky or anything else) can anyone help pleeeeeease. thanks in advance, Dane

Not sure from your post if you are on one of the Orange home phone packages (Starter / Select / Max) ?????
thanks for replying. my home phone is with BT and broadband with Orange, ive been in touch with Orange again since the first post and they are now sending me another adsl filter! i have told them i have got 2 already and i have the same problem with both of them,to which she said both are broken!! i think she is just fobbing me off.but at the moment the only option i have is to try this new filter they are sending me.
i did the removing lower panel of the box thing yesterday with BT and all was fine. i even tried plugging the filter in direct and the problem is still the same (no phone)

OK so now you have proved that the cause is either the ADSL filter or the livebox.
One more test just to prove this, is there any chance you can plug a replacement phone (perhaps borrow a neighbour's or friend's for a minute) into the ADSL filter with the livebox connected ?
One other thought, are you using a cordless-type/DECT phone set up ?
