I have a new Vista PC which I've failed to connect to a Siemens router supplied with the Orange Broadband service. The PC requires a 10 character (40-bit) security passkey to connect wirelessly to the router yet the router has a 12 character passkey (written on the underside of the router). All other ISP wireless routers that i'm aware of (PlusNet, Be, BT) use a 10 character format which i believe is the WEP standard so why does the Siemens use 12 characters. Orange offshore tech support tried me using every combination of characters until I gave up with their guessing games. Can anyone help please ?
The same Vista PC connected fine with a BT wireless router using a 10 character passkey.
Thanks for your reply - When the Vista PC i'm trying to connect to the Siemens reouter detects the WLAN, it shows it as WEP and then the Vista wireless connection routime states that a 5, 10, 13 or 26 character passkey should be used. Are you sure the Siemens router uses WPA ?
