I have rung Orange countless times over this, of course i have to use my BT line as i get so much interference with the livebox one. Im paying £20 a month for something i can actually use faster on my mobile phone!
Can anyone give me advice on what to do cause these speeds are getting past a joke and ive got a 19 months left with these greedy imbaseals.
Speed Test is below
Edit: Image is poor quality as it would of taken AGES to upload so i had to compress it
According to the "System Information" in the livebox settings, thse are my results
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 9.3
Attenuation (dB) : 59.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 3467
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream = 1579
Upstream = 218
Rate (kbps)
Im not getting anywhere near that, and i tested 3 servers, one in London, one in Maidenhead (Recommended Server) and one in Sittingbourne. All of which displayed a download and upload rate lower than 100 Kbits
There is nothing wrong with my line as my previous ISP provided me with an average speed of 2.6 - 3 Meg

Try running this and follow the recommendations :-

I have just joined this site. I have been with Orange for years. I'm on the 8mbps package get invariably get around 4.3mbps connection.
I did the speedtest.net test a few times and received average speeds of 1780 kbps / 380 kbps.
I was going to come on here and ask if switching from the USB modem to an Ethernet modem would mine upstream/downstream speeds increase at all. But some of you seem to get much worse speeds so maybe I shouldn't complain !!

A somewhat mixed set of results. Upstream of 218, lower than either the LLU or Max upstream sync speeds so this does suggest a problem. Downstream of 1579 means it's an adaptive service and LLU would normally get capped to be stable at those sorts of levels. Interleaving is off, commonly for connection issues it would get turned on so right now just adds to the confusion. Attenuation shows it's a long line and the margin has been targetted up a level than optimum. The margin targetting is probably why the attainable is a lot higher than your sync. Plus probably means you're on Max and not LLU.

Actually your line stats tell a different story. Looks like recently there was some major event for your line which has since gone away to a degree. It has however left some after effects. If you do a BT speedtest you'll likely find the IP profile has dropped a lot and is limiting your speed at present.
That and the targetted margin should correct itself, the profile within 3 days if your connection is stable and the margin within about 2 weeks.
However your sync speed, especially the upstream, are cause for a little concern. I'd suggest getting Orange to run a line test, at current levels I'd be surprised if it didn't pickup something.
before ringing up Orange for a line test for slow speeds it is vital that you goto speedtester.BT.com and do atleast 3 tests at different times of day and for atleast a few days aswell, if not done Orange will simply not have enough data to fully process and diagnose the problem via a line test. The system will just return no fault found etc.
been with Orange along time now, with freeserve then wannado then Orange, everythings been fine until 2 weeks ago when they 'improved' our line to get 6 mb speed cuz apparently our line couldnt get more than 2mb. however, we were getting around 4.3 etc until they did this. we now get 1.6. it takes me AGES to download stuff now and its really doing my head in. when i ring up to get answers no one understands and they all speak indian and just keep telling me they have improved my line. i also think when they did this imrpovement they have signed me into another 12 month contract from what i could see, so if i wanted to leave i have to wait a year and then another 3o days to give notice! to give u an idea of how slow downloads have gone it use to take me 15 mins to get something, now it takes me 2 hrs to get the same thing! really annoyed with Orange now.
