Can anyone explain why I can connect to the net only using the yellow Livebox socket. Is it simply a fault with the red socket or is it something more sinister?
What does the LAN connection status show as when in the red port?
I'd normally suspect it means it happens to be faulty but the status will help a little.
back in the old days both red and yellow connections could be used on ethernet, now only red should be able to be used and yellow will be for iptv, again i maybe wrong. If the ethernet cable is in the red slot and the status is "cable unplugged" on ur pc and the yellow slot shows as connected then its a dodgy red port on the livebox, ring tech to get it replaced, they may pass you over to a livebox recovery department first to see if they can recovery via firmware, it maybe a firmware problem but usually the pins in the port are bent or broken which is what causes it.
Hi, At the moment I am using the yellow ethernet port for sharing the broadband to other computers around the house using develo home plug system . The main computer is connected directly to the Livebox via the Red ethernet connection. This all works fine. However when the software update V5.10.7-UK arrives will I not be able to use the Yellow ethernet connection for this purpose, as it seems the Yellow connection is going to be used for internet TV
The new firmware enables the yellow port for the digital TV service but not exclusively, it adapts to if the box is connected there. Otherwise it works like a normal ethernet port. You can set it to be TV only but that's not default from the details I've read.
