I've had Orange broadband now for about 6 months and after going through the whole PPD serer down problem I thought my connection was fine and dandy. However recently my connection seems to cut out all the time whenever I'm online. It will usually reconnect after about a minute but this can prove incredibly annoying! Are there any settings I can change that might fix this problem. Any Ideas?
First, try plugging your modem or router directly into the main BT linebox with no other phones/skybox/fax etc connected. If it's possible use the socket behind the removable lower half of the front plate (if you have a newer linebox).
Monitor that for say 30 minutes.......if it stays connected that long !!

I have tried what you suggested but still no luck. I think i have an older BT linebox.
The livebox has a phone plugged into it but i don't ever have any other phones faxes etc plugged into my line. Is there anything else i can try? please help!

OK just disconnect the phone for a short time and just have the livebox plugged in, monitor that for 30 minutes or for however long a period the disconnections happen.

It's the same story it keeps cutting out with or without the phone plugged in. I can connect using a speedtouch modem which works well for an hour or two but it has a tendency to make my computer freeze! I need to get the livebox to work in order to connect my laptop wirelessly and use the phone.
I note the date of your first posting is around the time my own Orange broadband connection started to become very unstable and painfully s-l-o-w. All of my friends with Orange are also complaining of the same.
It looks to me that it isn't something we will be able to fix as it has to be something wrong at Orange's end.
My connection had been dropping every few minutes or hanging and apparently still being connected. It could take many attempts to reeatablish a connection only for it to drop again. Is this what you are experiencing?
That said, we did achieve a continuous 7 hour connection overnight last night. It took that long for a 340 Mb download of a software update on our 8Mbps connection - Ok, so our line can only handle 4 Mbps but even so!
My Orange connection(8MB) has started to drop every 15 minutes or so since this weekend. Viewing the status via http://192.168.1.1/ shows "PPP inprogress" when the connection drops, it usually connects again after a minute or so but still really annoying if you're in the middle of a gaming session..
