I seem to be experiencing problems with regards to what ports Orange have open. Im a member of a torrent community where it is essential to keep up a good ratio of uploads to downloads. For this to work a port must be open on Utorrent between 49152 and 6535 things were running smoothly until recently however now im unconnectable. Ive downloaded a port scanner and it appears that these ports are closed? Do Orange block these or is it possible for me to open them? U torrent is enabled on my windows firewall so that cant be the problem. Im running windows xp and have an 8 meg connection using i think the most recent livebox. However im using a stanard ethernet connection rather than wireless.
The only thing i can think of is that you can portforward via the livebox but i thought this was specifically for wireless routers. As mentioned im not using the wireless connection.
If anyone can help with any comments at all it will be extremely appreciated
Port forwarding isn't just for the wireless side it's used when on a router no matter the connection type. Setting a forwarding rule should sort that out for you.
AFAIK there's no ports actually blocked, not 100% as this information isn't available anywhere to my knowledge. There is however one port that is redirected, port 25 (outgoing email connections normally), so it can only be used to connect to Orange's servers and not external ones.
Is anyone aware if port 5060 (SIP) is blocked or redirected by Orange?
I have been trying to use a VOIP client and connect to a private corporate VOIP service and have found that the SIP registration messages do not reach the corporate network when I use port 5060 but do when I use port 5061.
