Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, i have a user who wishes to setup BB, the BB account is active the line is ready and the kit is ready to be installed, the only issue is that the machine is running Win ME and when the software on the disc is attempting to be installed it throws a compatibility issue problem up in regards to the machine being ME.
Is there a problem with comp on WIN ME for all BB connections? is there a patch to allow the installationt o continue or is it a re-format with XP?
Well ME is notorious for being one of the worst versions of windows that they made. Still setting up will hopefully be an easy one to do.
I hope it's for a livebox/router wired connection, just plug the cable in and try to browse to 192.168.1.1, if you get a page coming up then all should be easy. Click the link and use "admin" for the username and password to get in. Go into Services > Internet and put your Orange username and password in, click validate and it should all be done.
I'm not 100% sure on the router i will find out today, if I can configure it throught he router does that mean I will not need to use the installation cd? thats where my problem is because it won't even start off the cd!
Scrap the CD - I had no trouble connecting liveboxes and Netgears to a hard wired ME machine
If you're not using a livebox, plug in LAN cable as suggested.
start -> run -> command
type ipconfig
the default gateway is the IP address of your router so just use
http://ipaddress
You may struggle a bit if your PC is wireless, but let us know the setup and we will be happy to help
