I understand that 500 customers are in the same situation as me. We have not had a connection for 4 weeks. The connection suddenly went down and since then we have had the message PPP server down. Orange say that they are conducting a line test evey time I ring and they say that they will send an SMS when they have completed the test. This never happens. When I ring back we go through the same scenario. Help!

Hello Carolyn
Welcome to OrangeProblems.co.uk
Well, apparently, 30 days without a conenction and you can cancel your broadband contract without penalty - according to many reports here on OrangeProblems.co.uk - you do have to have been in touch with them over this period though - so keep logging complaints with them.
If I were you, I would speak to customer services, mention this and see what they say, and then perhaps look at another provider. There are providers and their packages listed here and we tell you the good and the bad points about each!
You may be told that you will not be able to receive a MAC from them (which is used for seamless transitions between internet service providers). They may then tell you that you will be without broadband for UP TO 14 days... Well, if you have no broadband at the moment, and if you haven't had any for four weeks, then you have nothing to lose! And remember, it is UP TO 14 days and is often quicker than this (depending on which service you join).
Good luck!
If it makes you feel any better, or helps you with your decision, the reason I set this site up was due to ppp server down - for over 11 weeks!!!
