i have 2 computers.
I have always set up the line and modem for either one but lately only one computer works, the connection dies out after a while. the computer has windows and linux. aswell another speedtouch modem and a wire router all tested and no luck.
is there any problem with having 2 computers the line (not at the same time).
i have a standard home 2mb connection (no wireless router). im hoping its a problem with terms and conditions either that or my motherboard has problems.
Trying to explain this to someone at Orange is very very very annoying... they dont understand that how many lines i test, how many firmware versions iv tried... basically they put the phone down on me or keep me on hold.
Never mind about Orange, I'm struggling to appreciate your problem !
Are you trying to connect 2 x modems or 1 x modem and 1 x router to 1 x incoming phone line ?
no, i have 2 computers. with only one at a time on the line.
my problem is only one of them works. while the other computers internet (tested with a router, and 2 spare speedtouch modems and lines) doesnt.
My router also finds it hard to keep a connection.
do i have to have some sort of 'home starter'
When you connect the speedtouch to the computer with the problem what lights/errors do you get? Does it say it's connected but then just not work?
If the ADSL light flashes to show no sync then it's likely to do with the wiring, if it's on an extension cable or extension socket you'll want to check it.

The tested modems work for only so long, then the adsl connection light blinks a lot. Sometimes if lucky on the linux firmware i can get a very short connection while on windows when its lost its lost. But thats probably just different settings. The router does the same thing.
I have several lines of phone wiring ^^. Always useful to have some spare.
