New laptop, new livebox, although have been with wanadoo for 4 years. I have connected the desktop to the livebox with an ethernet cable and no problems there. Laptop has an Atheros wireless adapter, which works, as I have been able to connect to the internet, I am connected just now and using laptop downstairs with good connection. Problem is when I switch off the laptop that I cannot connect again without going through a series of moves which quite frankly confuse me because it just all seems so stupid.
I have to connect the desktop, go into the config page, using admin password, then security setting, wireless, then clicking on the wireless channel leaving it as is, which is set at 9, clicking submit, then switching off the laptop, restarting and most times it then connects. But it is a real pain having to go through this rigmarole everytime I want to us the laptop elsewhere in the house.
Am I missing something obvious and simple? It's obvious something is wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Can the laptop detect the livebox after it's been switched off and back on again? If not, and it's always after a switch off, then it sounds like something to do with the laptop to me.
It's nothing to do with pairing as changing the channel doesn't put it in pairing mode, just submitting on the wireless section just gets it to use the same channel again and shouldn't restart the connection. Presume nothing to do with the key either as you never mentioned having to re-enter that.
You may want to check if there are any newer drivers for your laptop's wireless to see if that helps. Also you could always try and recover your livebox to reset it's internal software incase it's just a corruption there.
The laptop does not connect with the livebox after switch off. I will check for updates and see what happens. Thanks for the response. If any more problems I will be back.
