I have a wired connection to my desktop, a wi-fi to a laptop and today I unpacked a new Dell Inspron 530 desktop with wi-fi. I want to connect the new pc running Vista to my livebox. I have screwed in the wi-fi antenna on the Inspiron and it has found the livebox after I keyed in the WEP key. But to get a connection it is asking for a Security key or Passphrase.
I have tried various codes (including the WEP key again). Can anyone tell me where I find this info. please ? I can get into my Livebox set-up on my old pc but I don't know what to look for.
Also before posting this query I looked around on this forum and found something about pressing button 1 to put the livebox in pairing mode. Where is button 1 please ?
Sorry if this is a bit dumb but I had to mend the Inspiron after unpacking it whilst speaking to someone on the other side of the world and I'm a bit fed up at the moment.
O.K. So no one told me that I had to use my Wanadoo CD to get the new pc talking to my Livebox. Well I got that and let it auto-run. When I took the option "I want to connect another pc or laptop to my Livebox" it just hangs. My Easy set-up Wanadoo CD is Version 1.3 Will this work on Vista ? I know it has worked on a couple of lap tops when connecting them to the Livebox but they have been running XP.
Thanks for your help so far. Believe me, I don't think I have ever ever installed anything on a pc without some kind of difficulty.
David
EDIT: Thanks anyway but I managed it. Didn't need the CD after all. Just pairing & WEP key.
