Driving me mad!! Evil or Very Mad

I dont want anything fancy like a wireless connection to my MAC running on osx 10.4- i just want it up and running via the ethernet connection but it just aint working! I spent most of last night on the helpline which obviously as i am MAC was no help- just trying to get all the info to put into the network set up

was given

ip address 192.168.1.38
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
router-he wasnt sure of this one!! 192.168.1.1
dns host 195.92.195.94

why oh why is it not connecting?
i had a netgear router which i have obviously replumbed into!
so just followed the cable set up for that which works fine so must be right!

am i missing something- is there something on the cd- which obviously wont work cos i am MAC - a driver i have to download???

pls pls help before i send the whole lot back and find another broadband supplier grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Mad

not sure about OS X but in OS 9 it's just a very simple case of selecting eithernet and using all the automatic options for dns, ip etc

did you dwonload anything from the cd sent or just literally plug it in and that was that? Question

just plug it in
there is no MAC software with the livebox and none should be needed for an eithernet connection

do you have a PC you could try?
just makes it eaiser to find out if it's the MAC or the livebox at fault

http://www.transcience.freeser...eless.html try this site i have connected several macs using this as a start. it seems as though their is no set rule when connecting a MAC to the livebox...also may need to download firefox as on occasion safari does not communicate with the livebox and as such you cant access the settings within the livebox
