I have been experiencing an extremely slow download speed issue for the past two weeks now. Thank God I found this website. I have rang Orange 'technical support' (not so much since there's no support involved) at least 10 times now. Nothing has been done. All they do is read out info over and over again.
My upload speed is around 370kpbs. What is worse is my download speed. 122kpbs!! I am on the up to 8meg speed, and I'm getting that!! That is just double dial-up. It truly is appalling. I don't know what to do. I got a text saying the engineers tried to contact me but they never did really.
I am runnning Windows XP, using livebox but on a wired connection. Here are my stats:
Sorry for the long read. If someone could help me that would be really really appreciated. They keep on lying to me and tbh i am SICK of it. Apparently my contract ends in January and I'm glad its soon (that's if they're telling the truth). Anyway, any help will be much appreciated. Thanks guys.
As nhyder is inferring, it's almost guaranteed that the profile is currently set at 135kbps which the BT speedtest should show.
If the profile is low then there's a number of possibilites.
1. Your connection is unstable and this is causing the system to keep the speed low to counteract it.
2. The profile is stuck, much less likely, stuck profiles seem to be becoming less common than they used to.
The connection being unstable and the speed being slow for 2 weeks isn't a good sign, especially when your line stats show it shouldn't be giving you such a low profile unless it really is unstable.
What I'd suggest at the moment is for the next couple of days keep a note of the attainable and downstream rates from the livebox and if you notice it disconnecting. That should give an idea of it's stability, also if it is stable now then the speed should go up within 3 days.

We seem to be getting more people having problems with IPStream Max instead of LLU. Is there a reason for this - are Orange using Max more now than they used to?
I finally found out the cause of the fault I think. Keithwjones tahnk you for leading me to that link as it helped me to explore the little white box. It turns out that one of the wires aren't connected properly, and so I did. My speed is currently at 1.2Mbps. Yes it is still very appalling compared to 8Mb but after the ordeal that I have been through the past two weeks I'm just happy to be able to use the internet without having to fall asleep midway. Thanks guys for your help! It is very very much appreciated!!!!

Nothing much has changed, there's still LLU and it's still being rolled out. The current state is likely just due to the attention that broadband speeds have been gettings in the media recently. That along with more people trying to use feature rich services, greater demand for higher speeds and in the end more contention during the peak times it's commonly used.
