I have two computers upstairs in my home connected to a Belkin wireless router by RJ45. My Livebox is down stairs at the phone point.
I wish to use the Belkin as an wireless access point/bridge for the computers and connect it to the live box to save me buying two wireles cards/dongles for my PCs.
I have set the Belkin to access point/bridge, switched off the DHCP on the Belkin and allocated it a static IP address within the IP range set by the Livebox. I have given the two computers static IP address also within IP range of the livebox.
The stupid question is how do i get the Livebox to recognise the Belkin? It doesn't recognise it automatically and i can find no settings allow the Livebox to connect to the Belkin. i have done this before with other ISP's equipment but this really baffles me.
It's the belkin that has to do the connecting in this situation. You'll need to enter the key from the livebox into the belkin's config and tell it to connect to the livebox, press the 1 button on the livebox and then it should be able to connect up.
I allocated the belkin the MAC address for the Livebox as the allowed connection and the security key/pass phrase as well but other than that there is no other way on the Belkin to get it to connect to the Livebox.
Allocating the livebox MAC to the belkin would suggest it's trying to work the opposite way around with the livebox connecting to the belkin. (not really possible AFAIK)
The only reason to give it the MAC is to say that device is allowed to connect to me.
Whats the belkin model number? I'll look up the manual and see if that helps make some sense of it.
Hi guys did this ever get resolved as I am currently using a belkin f5d7630
belkin modem and wireless router which works fine but I have changed to home max as it is cheaper than my previous Orange/ wanadoo deal plus the phone line deal makes it a good "buy" however I use the wireless facility to connect my laptop and desk top so how do I use the live box and the belkin together?

Thanks for reply it turns out that although never mentioned on any Orange web page or in the printed documentation that comes with the livebox it is in fact wireless enabled and gives you the choice of cable or wireless at the time of installation, so the belkin is no longer required.
What I can't see is this live box is b;g or the new i standard

Well if you want to use the second line then easiest option is to just use the livebox, if not then use the belkin or the livebox, it's your choice.
Using them both can be a hastle to setup, check the belkin's documentation to see if it can work as a wireless repeater, etc.
