Had link down since sunday after alot of calls to Orange (and speaking to supervisors). They have done various so called "line tests" and still I have no connection to the internet.
Has anyone else got problems like this or is this just me being unlucky

There have been problems in the south around Bristol and Somerset over last couple of days. Check with others in your area to see if they are down. Having said that the problems here have last a couple of hours not days.
First thing to try is turn everything off and start again. If no luck post exact details of the problem and whether you are using a Livebox.
In the last month have you had an email from Orange saying "woopee, we are going to upgrade your line to a faster speed" ?
Nope I haven't had this what so ever. I just suddenly got the dreaded "LINK DOWN" and now all i get from Orange is "We are doing a line check and there is a problem with your line !".
This is a joke I need the interent for doing work from home. I knew it was a bad idea going with Orange and to think they where great during the first 3 months !!!.

PPP SERVER DOWN
This is is generally a network/exchange fault.
First re-enter your username and password.
Others have solved this by installing another router or their Speedtouch 330 modem instead of Livebox - getting a connection - disconnecting - then going back to Livebox. There are several reports of this working. It appears that the network and Livebox jam up.
Others have also solved the problem by changing the normal settings:

Another trick is to try the USB modem or another router with another computer. Then go back to original computer and Livebox.

Cheers mate. Ill have a go at that am currently in work on the internet and beleive to know a bit about law so here goes.
under oranges term's and conditions of there contract they state in point 4.2 that Home max compriss of Three elements the first being the right to download files over the interent in excess of the usage allowance.
Now due to the fact i haven't been able to do this, this in theory makes the contract VOID. Am I correct ?

You can't look at individual clauses in isolation. Look at clause 7 General - Our Obligations, particularly :-
"7.2 We do not warrant that the Services will be interruption-free or that the transmission of information through the Services will be secure. The Services and the Payment Handling Services may be temporarily suspended for operational reasons (such as maintenance or upgrades), because of an emergency or because third parties (such as the credit or debit card companies or banks through which the Payment Handling Services are provided) on whom we rely have withdrawn service or that service is interrupted for any reason. Before suspending or interrupting the Services or Payment Handling Services we shall use reasonable endeavours to give you as much notice as possible.
7.3 It is technically impracticable to provide the Services free from errors and/or faults and we do not undertake to do so. We shall provide Technical Support to enable faults to be reported and resolved and whilst we will use reasonable endeavours to procure resolution of these faults we do not undertake that all faults will be corrected."

Ok thats right yes, but we the customer have the right to "get what where paying for". Now if that means a washing machine for instance we would get it repaired for free under insurance if it was broke. Now the fact that my line has not had a broadband connection for nearly a week now means that me the customer is not getting the service, I am paying for and therefore i quote back to 4.2 of the terms and conditions.
By the way, why cant we juts change pppoa to pppoe on the livebox ?....

If only law was as simplistic !!
The washing machine contract would actually state that a repair or replacement would be effected.
The broadband contract actually infers that if anything goes wrong, tough, we'll do our best to re-establish a service but we won't guarantee it.
This will stand up in court because as customers we have agreed to that clause.

What so because of the clause in 7.2 am totally screwed !!.

I didn't say that.
But you'd need to be a qualified professional to argue against it in court because Orange employ lawyers to formulate their contracts.
See am not a qualified professional but I have a degree in computer technology (so they aint bullshittin me) and also my degree covers certain law aspects and from what I can read from the terms and conditions and from certain laws there are in the UK (from what I remember), If us the customer are not recieving the correct service from ANY isp provider (so thats just not Orange) we have the right to cancel the contract at any time as long as it can be proved (which it can through isp logs and the logs which are stored on your home computer in a file somewhere, not at home at moment but maybe need to dig that out) and the only thing the terms and conditions has is the fact we pay the isp the correct fee every month and that it tells us about what can happen if we do not pay the fee correctly and we mis use there services in any form.
All I'm saying is that Orange have stated that "It is technically impracticable to provide the Services free from errors and/or faults and we do not undertake to do so. We shall provide Technical Support to enable faults to be reported and resolved and whilst we will use reasonable endeavours to procure resolution of these faults we do not undertake that all faults will be corrected."
In court Question 1 to you would be "Did you agree to the contract Terms & Conditions ?" Your answer would have to be "Yes" otherwise Orange would not have connected your service.
Any judge would find it impossible to rule for you in a breach of contract case.

I understand that just need to sort this bullsh*t out they have done my head in now. I need my interent so bad and they have deffo done something to my line. Amazing that after paying the 3 months £10 as soon as it gets past that my internet just goes off on its own and they say its a "line fault!". Dont you agree ?
