My contract is finished and I am going to move asap. Which ISP'S are performing and which do any members who have already escaped recommend.
Regards
All ISP's are much the same when everything is working well. It is only when things are not working well that you can tell the good from the bad. When you are considering migration to another IP then it makes good sense to do some research so that you don't jump out of the frying pan only to end up in the fire. Look carefully at the IP's promo. A few clues are 1) Is customer support an 0800 number. 2) Does the IP advertise UK based support staff. 3) Does the IP NOT insist on locking you into a contract. If the answer to these 3 questions is YES then you are probably onto a winner. There are IP's that meet this requirement and therefore IMHO set the standard by which all IP's can be judged.

It's great to see that price, special giveaways, speed, combined mobile/landline/tv/broadband deals don't get your approval.
Also don't even consider the "something for nothing" market stall-type operator......it's just not worth the hassle.

We live in a world where businesses promise the world and often fail to deliver. When you purchase consumer goods you get a measure of protection from the Sale of Goods Act, distance selling regs etc. When you purchase Internet services you get absolutely no protection whatsoever and yet there are most likely as many broad band accounts purchased annually as there are washing machines . If your new washing machine doesn't work then you can tell the retailer to take it away and give you a refund. If your new broad band account doesn't work - well that's tough and you have X months of contract that you have to pay regardless off the service (or lack off) that you have received. So people if you are migrating from Orange, who are probably the worlds worst culprit in this respect, then PLEASE spend some time checking out your proposed new provider. There are loads of on line web sites dedicated to this issue and also you can check out the Google Newsgroup archive.
