Orange has launched a home landline service and announced new "best value" broadband packages.
Orange Home Max includes a landline connection offering free weekend and evening calls as well as an Orange Livebox – the wireless modem that gives you broadband coverage wherever you are in your home.
A second new package, Orange Home Starter, has launched for customers who want to keep their existing fixed line supplier but still want to move over to Orange Broadband.
Orange Home Max customers will have their landline connection, home phone and broadband services all rolled into one package with one bill and a single number for all customer service support.
Customers can also make free international calls with an inclusive VoIP line. They will also be able to benefit from the launch of Orange’s digital TV service later this year.
Here's an outline on the new broadband packages:

Remember this is a brand new service and there will be only a few people who may be able to give advice right now... We'll certainly be dissecting the service over the next few months.
I am thinking of upgrading to Orange MAX, so started reading the terms and conditions and found that broadband, landline and second line have usage limitations. It is all hidden in the terms and fair use policy.
Broadband - monthly limits apply to downloads - I could not see the actual limit.
Second line - International calls are limited to 1,000 minutes per month during evening and weekend. There is a maximum time of 2 hours per call.
Home landline - Free evening/weekend calls limited to 1,000 minutes/month.
You can use the second line for free calls, but how do you monitor usage on landline to stay within terms.

To report faults you pay national rate call charges.
On the website All links for fair use point to broadband fair use, when you expect to see fair use for second line or landline. I hope the Orange marketing is aware of this.
In the terms a lot of emphasise on suspending service if fair use breached.
I am concerned about Orange's abilility to provide adequate technical support for problems on the leased lines.
I am currentley helping a non Home Max Orange Custormer who has been without the Internet for 9 weeks now. Orange identified the problem was a line problem 6 weeks ago. During this time I have made around £100.00 worth of calls to the technical desk. The response is always the same, "our records show the technicians are still working on the problem - call back in 5 days". I have tried escalating with no positive progress.
It doesn't bear thinking about, to lose your main landline phone for this sort of time and then have to pay Orange more the longer they take to fix it.
Thanks Elhana, so you think BT's technical support is better than Orange, well it coudn't be worse!. In this case wouldn't it better to migrate everything to BT?
I upgraded to max and have had no land line or internet connection most of the time, my speeds are less than dial up and my land line crackles. orange are useless and their customer service is crap. BE WARNED

well ... to be honest the reason why u wudnt want to migrate everythin to BT or a company like that ... is simple .. the same reason why u wud go for the package ....
price
now ... why wud u go to BT take the package similar ... let me see ... line rental 10.50 .... calls .... 18 month contract could get u free calls evening and weeknds .... but only for 12 months ... but not a bad compromise ....
gets u voip second line ... not bad ... but free calls only evening and weeknds ... not international calls are free .. which if u wanted .. last time i checked ... wud cost 5 quid (landline).. i think ...
then ... broadband ... 24.99 for the simlar unlimited package with the fair usage policy ... ( emphasised in te terms and conditions as well)
costing u ... a grand total of 35.99 + anuther 5 if u want international calls ...
saving of 10 pounds ... now ,... smart choice .. but always a price to pay ...
1.0870 numbers ... for Customer services ...
2.Indian call cedntres ...( i think u ought to stop complaining ... all em companies do it nowadays ... thas one reason why u get cheaper services ....)
3. More time and delays for everything ( please .... u cant expect bb to be fixed pronto ) and if u getting that noisy line .. chances are .. u havent connected properly .. or ur filters are busted ... fastest way to check ... dsconnect everythin ... u shud be ok ...
4. u playing a game of luck .. anything goes wrong.... u got to be smart enuff to go with the flow .. and not loose ur thing ...

Yes I can expect issues to be resolved quickly (AKA a timely manner). I'm paying for the service.

See reply for 3.
Maybe you're happy to pay for a sub standard service, or no service and remain content with that. Orange are a BIG company, and as such customers demand the service they portray to us. They'd hardly get any customers if they spoke the truth in their adverts would they?
The rest of use will be demanding refunds for loss of service!
