I have been without a broadband service now for 25 days and counting! - PPP server is down and technical support in India is offering little assistance. Eact time i call I am told the engineers are still looking into this and am asked me to phone back 3-5 days later.
I am out of contract now so free to switch to a new ISP but am concerned that if i switch now before service resumes the same problem will carry over to new ISP. WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK. WILL I CONTINUE TO HAVE SERVER PROBLEM IF I SWITCH TO NEW ISP? Orange and BT say the line tests are OK, my phone lines are working fine and I have tested livebox after disconnecting all other eqipment with no success.
As I understand it, "PPP server down" means that your livebox is communicating OK back to the exchange but the exchange is not communicating with the Orange servers......whether this is BT's or Orange's fault I am not sure but users have reported no such problems after changing ISPs, so my money is on Orange being at fault, probably a glitch in the settings or programming of their server connection with that specific exchange.

if your problem is the same as mine (which was also PPP server down) you'll be fine switching ISP. my fast.co.uk connection was up and running days after giving them (fast) my MAC code and hasn't gone down since, which is over 6 weeks later.
It's usually a problem on LLU connections and very rarely on IPStream so switching ISP often will cure the problem simply due to it putting you on a completely different connection system.
I'm IRATE . Thanks to P.ISS P.ISS P.ISS SERVER DOWN, I am at uni miles away from home doing coursework overnight at 3am. I had to stay at uni as it was the only place I could use the Internet for any decent period of time while courseworking.
I asked for my MAC yesterday and hope to get it soon. However, Orange has already screwed up this coursework coz I would have started it over Xmas had I had the internet. I've had no net since Boxing Day (26 dec) 2007. I've spent longer on indian tech no help than I have online since 26 Dec 07.
I've been told of problems on my line, PPP server set on fire and all the user account detailss need to be put onto a new ppp server, that all the user account details are on many diff servers ANYWAY so one server going down wouldnt frick things up, that the user account UNs and PWs got mixed up, that there is an exchange problem...
I;ve factoryreset the Livebox daily. Leaving Orange now will mean I have to pay £42 cancellation fee (I got them to give me net for £10/month after I threatened to leave before!) but I dont care now.
I just want to try that belkin modem thing though, just in case that helps.
Orange, owned by France Telecom est MERDE!!!!
