Hello again,
i really didn't think i would be coming back to this message board ever again because i thought i was free (how wrong was i).Anyway could someone help me once again please.
Ok i migrated from Orange on the 15th of October and was with Be* all up and running. Now they have charged me for this month November saying it takes 30 days to close your account and you are still in your 30 days period so you will be charged (i got a MAC code) and your account is still active. They say it will be cancelled on the 14th of November and they have charged me £19.
is this right?
Thanks for any info you can give me.
UPDATE: I rang them again because i was confused and they said they will refund me the money and close my account within 24hrs.

Yes they apply 30 days notice - it's in their Terms of Service. Make sure you remember to cancel your DD as they are likely to keep on taking the payments if you don't.
Orange were correct in charging the 30 days cancellation fee as per their Terms Of Use
17.12 In order to transfer your service to a different provider you need to request a MAC Code from us that you should give to your new broadband provider. You can request to receive the MAC Code by email or letter. We aim to provide the MAC Code to you within 5 working days of your contacting us. A MAC Code expires after 30 days of issue. We can only provide a new MAC Code once the previous one has expired. The request of a MAC Code does not immediately cancel your account.
17.12.1 When you terminate your Agreement and any Minimum Period has expired the termination is subject to 30 days’ notice that will be applied to your Broadband account when the MAC Code is used.
If the Minimum Period hasn't expired then you are charged the remainder of the Minimum Contract, unless they have agreed to waive that fee due to technical problems.
In your case it appears that they eventually waived the 30 days notice as a Gesture Of Goodwill.

The thing to bear in mind is if your direct debit goes out on the 1st of the month, your bill for the month ahead will have been produced around the 22nd. So the best thing to do is
a) request your MAC code on the 23rd,
b) use your MAC asap
c) let the direct debit go out on the 1st
then hopefully you will be transferred to a new ISP somewhere between the 7th and 14th at the lastest. At which point you cancel your direct debit
I know this means you will end up paying for 1-2 weeks service which you won't use, but it's better than getting into the situation where you owe them a month's service for cancelling at the wrong time
