Hi, this is a little guide id like to post on your installation CD problems if you are having any. I will add links to the Orange website on their own knowledgebase on there. This will give even more detailed descriptions to what needs to be done and also has pictues too to help guide you!
To start off, there are quite a few problems that can occure with it:
1 - When trying to start the installation and its going straight to the help page on the CD. (most common)
2 - Mac Computers and no compatible software. (this is a pain for alot of you out there too!)
To answer point number 1. There is a very simple way of getting around this issue, unfortunatly, it is an unneccasary step to get the software installed. If you are getting this issue, then all you need to do is uninstall 1 piece of flash software. This issue is caused by a piece of software called "Adobe Flash Player 9". If you uninstall this from Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs(in classic view) --> click on Adobe Flash Player 9 --> click remove
Restart your PC, run the CD again, and it will install, once the software is installed, download the software again.
If you can get to the Orange homepage at any point, then go to their help and support section and type in "kb14498" and it will bring up another issue about the adobe flash player.
To be honest, they should of already fixed the CD but as of yet it hasn't been sorted.
Onto point number 2. Unfortunatly, most isp's dont make compatible software for MAC computers, and its simply a matter of numbers on this point. Most people do use Windows based PC's and the percentage does show this. But help is at hand!!!!!
There is a very simple way of getting the livebox connected on a wired connection. Simply connect the livebox up as it should be, at your main BT socket, and then connect your ethernet cable to your MAC and Livebox. Then open up Safari, and in the address bar, type in "192.168.1.1". A page should load up that says "Inventel Wireless Magic". Find the link in Orange writing that says "Access to the congifuration pages(access to these pages are restricted, you must have the password)". Click on that, the username is "admin" and the password is "admin", type it as i have, all in lower case. Then click on "my services" on the menu on the left. Then click on "internet". Type you username in the box beside where it says "connection login". Do the same for the password box. Press "validate" and leave your Livebox for about 30 seconds at most. The "@" light should be solid on your Livebox. If it is, you can get on the net. If its not, make sure youve typed your UN/PW in correctly. If it still doesnt accept it, you will need to get in touch with their tech support, if they say they dont support it, just refer them to their knowledge base!!!!!!
about wireless on MAC, its best to be able to make a wired connection first, it makes it ALOT simpler. Ill just link to the article on the Orange home page. Its alot more detailed and comes with pictures to help!
I hope this topic helps with your installation CD problems, if you get any others, please post in here and i will try to find ways around those problems.
The manual connection also works on Windows based PC's but if you follow point 1, you should be able to get around that issue
Dont be afraid to PM me, i will help to the best of my ability.

I experienced problem with CD hanging...ie I couldn't move to the next stage. I've been told its a problem with the flash player and the animations in the set up.
If you press "next" quickly you can get through the installation ok otherwise its a re-boot for you..
Dont know if its just me but i dont want any of the Orange software on my pc i just connected the livebox up and legt all the crap pff. if i need to access the box i just typr in its ip address.
u know what mate dont use instalation cd, p1ss easy without! why bother when u can do it manualy in about 2 mins and its quicker with no errors try calling tech and asking them!
Usually if you call Orange most people avoid going through the cd. It's easier and quicker to not bother with it and do things manually.
I need to ask a simple question. I have a new PC to replace an old one hard wired to the live box. Old PC is dead. I understand the process without the cd. can I wire up the new pc and simply go through that process to get an internet acces via new pc?
If it's an ethernet connection then just connect up the cable and if the @ light is solid then it should work immediately.
Its an ethernet connction via the IEEE1394 port but the pc does not 'see' the livebox. Could I try unplugging the cable and putting it back?
My underlying concern is that if I need to reset the livebox - and this has been a regular event recently- I dont know how to carry out the reset if its not hard wired. Can it be done wirlessly?
As long as you can get a wireless connection on channel 1 after the reset then it should be fine to do wirelessly but it's always recommended to do it over a wired connection.
IEEE1394 is firewire, using some sort of adapter to connect it to an ethernet port on the livebox? USB adapters seem somewhat tempremental from what I've seen of them.
Can't you make a direct ethernet connection instead?
Thanks for the advice. I used the install disk once, that was enough. I recently reinstalled Windows after a hard disk crash and it still works perfectly-ish, though, to be honest I think my crappy line is probably to blame for most of the remaining issues.
