Last week I got migrated to LLU without any warning. I didn't realise this at all.
The day our baby was due I noticed the landline wasn't working - no dial tone. After first checking that it was nothing to do with my wiring I logged a fault with BT stating it was very important that we could contact people and especially that my wife could ring me if I was at work.
Good as gold a BT engineer was knocking at the door within the hour. He couldn't fix it and said it was a problem in the exchange and it wouldn't be fixed until the next day.
Meanwhile, I noticed with horror that my Orange bb linestats had changed. It was obvious we had moved onto an LLU circuit. I phoned cs who said my line was due to move to LLU but had not done so yet. I told them that the line def had been moved to LLU and what's more I told them it was switched the day before. I was repeatedly told that LLU did not in any way, affect a landline and that I had better contact BT!!!!
Eventually, I spoke with someone who finally admitted a fault on the exchange equipment and it would be fixed the following Tuesday. I said this was unacceptable due to the baby issue. They seemed sympathetic but couldn't do anything.
Also, my bb speed had dropped from 4.5 Mbps to just 2.2 and I told them they were capping my speed. No, they said.
BT agreed to change my line temporarily onto normal PSTN at the expense of broadband to see us over our problem time but Orange refused this saying that it would take them 21 days to arrange!
Anyway, I emailed mike.newnham@orange-ftgroup.com on Friday and told him that Orange were risking my wife and baby's life.
I did not get a response but on Monday our phone line was back working. The bb speed was still 2.2 so I phoned cs who gave me the usual "ring back tomorrow becasue our line tester is not working today" crap.
However, on Tuesday my line speed was over 6 Mbps and has remained so.

Thanks, but still waiting for the baby (8days overdue now) and LLU still connecting at 7Mbps with a dl speed of about 5.5-6 Mbps.
I have the odd disconnections though but the landline is also still working.
