Hey all, im glad i found this site im having problems with my Orange connection, like many of us as i can see from all the posts anyway.
I have my livebox on my pc wired and then my sisters pc wirelessly connects and my laptop connects both of these are fine the problem is
my dad recently got a new pc and it has vista so the wireless usb adapter he had is no good as its discontinnued and they arent updating the drivers for it. I bought a P-Link 54Mbps Wireless USB Adapter.
Took about an hour to actually to get it to work and connect but it seems to lose connection every 15-30mins and it cant see the live box, Is there somthing i seemed to have missed? is there problems with vista trying to connect with livebox ? or is it a crapy usb adapter and are there better ones out there for vista...
My pc ( wired connection to livebox is running xp sp2 )
My sister's is xp it disconnects also.
Laptop is apple MAC, It is great never had any problems with it took about a minute to set up.
My dads pc is vista it does have windows defender installed,
After posting on the forum i disabled windows firewall and uninstalled the macafee anti virius to see if that would help but it still disconnects... no luck so far
im not sure if they lose connection at the same time i havent tested that, but i do know that either of them cant see the livebox when it happens and when the live box re-apears on screen it wont let me connect either
Their stuff has a sort of apple like look to it, quite nice compared to most routers.
Channel changing...
You want a wired connection for this just incase.
Browse to 192.168.1.1
Click the link and enter "admin" in username and password,
Go into Security > Wireless Connection,
There's a drop down for channel which will probably be on 1,
Just change it and submit,
Wait a minute make sure the wireless connections have reconnected and then see if it helps.
It's best you don't use channels near to the current one, if it's interference then they're likely to be effected to some degree too, so jump around several at a time or just pick randomly.
