You could try logging into the member center and checking if it's showing as active in there. If not email in the S/N and MAC from the bottom of the livebox and see if they can do it for you manually. If it is active turn off the livebox for a minute and see if the phone light comes on after a couple of minutes once it's restarted.
I've set up countless Liveboxes and VOIP for others and I always call the Orange help desk to activate the phone.
Have the serial no and the MAC address ready (on the base of the Livebox)
It's never been a problem but it usually takes say 5-10 minutes on the phone (specifically slow so that they can make money out of the 0870 call I guess).
But my take on it is that you might just as well start using it and save money straight away on your other calls rather than await an email - if they ever get around to it.
I have actually always found them helpful - so far.
Elhana,
Where exactly in Members Centre does it show the line status, all I can find are statements and upgrade options? I'm in the same position as Grumpy.
Login to your account at Orange and go to "Manage your second line" the info is in there. If the "Manage your second line" entry isn't shown then I suspect it's not activated.
OR
You can tell from the LiveBox if the VOIP service is active.
Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser (or whatever IP address you use for the Livebox) and select "access the configuration pages" (ID and password are probably set to "admin" unless you have changed them) and then select "System Information). You'll find the Talk Status and phone number near the bottom ogf the page. 2= active.
Can I thank you all for the advise I have just read. I left Talk Talk after 18 months as they were still unable to supply me with 'Free' Broadband. I live in a small village in Scotland and there was little hope of that happening.
Trawled the market until I found the best deal and in this case Orange Home Max (Wife phones Ireland constantly). I had checked their website and noted that Livebox was compatible with operating systems after Windows 98, I have (had) Windows ME which I thought was after Windows 98. It will come as no surprise to those on this forum that ME is in fact NOT compatible with the Orange Livebox. Fortunately have a Laptop with Windows XP and a new computer was in the pipeline from Santa (Windows Vista).
Complained to Orange regarding what I seen as innacurate information on the Website but was given a bit of a deafy by the Rep from Orange (On 3 ocassions) Anyway Broadband up and running since Mid November. Phones transferred over from Talk Talk on the 13th December which came as a surprise as I was never informed by Orange of any date. Unfortunately calls through the Livebox were not active. I rang and was told that there was a problem with the Livebox. I have rang on 4 ocassions now and been pushed from one department to another.
I have complained again and was told that I would be given Free Calls for a month. What they have now done is to stop the £24 a month payment (Gesture of Goodwill !!) and all I pay for are my calls.
I have now rang the 0800 number that I picked up here to see if that makes a blind bit of difference and only time will tell.
I have to say that my first impressions of Orange are not good ones and hope that that impression will, in time, change.
Oh and on a final point. Up to 8mb gives me generally around 3mb (Braco Exchange, Perthshire) but it has went as high as 5mb.
Thanks for the opportunity to submit my inane drivel.

Windows 98 is perfectly compatible with the livebox, practically anything with an ethernet port is. However Windows 98 and ME are no longer supported by Orange and I don't believe the software runs on them either. Still it's pretty easy to setup if on the default settings and without the CD is an identical method no matter if it's 98, Vista or even a MAC. I'd normally have a go as you'll know within a minute or so if there's a problem or not and if there's no problem you'll be up and running in no time.

Elhana I am grateful for the reply. The Orange Disc (As you know) will not read in the PC running with ME. The new computer (Windows Vista) is connected by Ethernet and has no problems. I attempted to set up a Wi-Fi Connection in my youngest daughters room on the ME PC using a DE-Link DWL-G122. After a wee bit of jiggery pokery I managed to get the signal. D Link Tells me that the signal is fine yet when I try to go on the internet I still have no success. If my memory serves me right it talks about proxy settings.
Had no problem with this Wi-Fi dongle when I had the pipex router. I have now given up trying to Wi-Fi the old computer and am considering upgrading it with Windows XP (Home). The old computer should just take it. A couple of years ago I would struggle even trying to create a new folder so even talking about Wi-Fi is a massive step in my computerisation (Is that a word ?).
