Hmmm, had a message left on the phone this morning from Orange Broadband, or so my mum has just told me.
They should now have my letter saying I want my anytime account cancelled and that I have no interest in broadband. I checked the Royal Mail's website for the recorded delivery and it said the letter had been delivered on Friday 28th September. There wasn't an electronic proof of delivery with it though, but it was still delivered! I sent the letter to customer care in Rotherham. I hope I sent it to the right place?
I know I was supposed to call them over that 0800 number by yesterday, but I'd already got the dial up support and told them everything over that instead.
Apparently I'm now going to be contacted in writing, or so the girl said. I wonder what they want... I hope they aren't forcing me into broadband without my say so! Hopefully they're just trying to persuade me to change my mind. Looks like I'll just have to wait until this letter comes to see what they want.
Thanks for the other email address! I'll try that.
No, it was recorded delivery As far as I know...my mum was the one that went up the post office with it lol.
I emailed both addresses and got responses from both

Er, I'd cancelled the DD with my dad's bank, so I'm presuming this refund won't go in? I don't suppose it matters anyway as it's not that much... I have no payment outstanding so at least I don't owe them anything!
No refunds should go through as a direct BACS credit with no need for a DD instruction
I had a direct debit instruction with Orange when I was on my year's free broadband. When it finished and I moved onto the £9.99 a month package, I must have told them to do it a bit too early as my first bank transaction with them was a credit. Only was it the following month that it appeared on my statement with the words "this is a new Direct Debit"
