Been having problems since Friday evening - I am in Stockport.
I have a dual boot system - Linux and Windows Me.
Can retrieve mail but cannot access certain web sites (well a majority). I must be connected and it is not a software/hardware problem as both operating systems are displaying the same problem.
It is only right that I explain how I got it sorted as I found the information on here that sorted me out.
I was using my existing configuration for literally months without issue -then BANG - Friday night all hell broke loose with the usualy ROCK SOLID system I have (Simply Mepis Linux).
After calls to the totally useless call centre in India (they really have no clue whatsoever) I decided to search this site for the answer:
change from PPPoA to PPPoE (VC based) for the router settings
it really was as simple as that.
So my adivice? TRY THIS FIRST - it takes one second to do it.
Why I had to change it I don't know and quite frankly don't care. Orange will lose one further customer when my contract runs out
