The tech teams will quote that they don't support 3rd party equipment but i would imagine you still have similar lights on your router as to what's on the livebox one...sometimes i've found that if you speak to tech some of the agents will try and help you with 3rd party equipment but it's just a case there not trained on it...
It's easy enough to bluff that you have a livebox connected when you haven't by telling them the light sequence you'd expect to receive for your current status
Hi everyone, first post so here goes. I have had no problems with my own router (A 3Com) for the last 2 years, however i was trying to set up my father in laws new router (Netgear G) and the DSL light just keeps flashing and doesnt detect the DSL signal!?! However if i then plug the speedtouch USB modem in, the light goes steady and connection straight away - I have run out of ideas and cant get into the setup as it states that it doesnt detect a DSL signal on the set up.
Don't know where to find the log pane sweeperdog. Trying to do initial set up and when you type in the IP address for setup 192.168.2.1 it gives you a cannot detect ADSL signal screen - nowhere to put in internet settings or anything like that. I am completely at a loss!
Connect the router to ur pc open a browser and type in the address bar 192.168.0.1 a window will pop up then type in a "admin" then "password" ( you can change the password later) when your in use the smart wizard to detect your ISP's settings then all you have to do is enter your ADSL username and password.
Go to This link there you will see how to get the wireless configuration.
Hey since this thread has been bumped I decided to read bits of that URL you just quoted. That's what I used to base the purchase of my router from - basically the ability to go through walls well
It was interesting to read Netgear's and thinkbroadband's version of the same option about Wireless Isolation
Thinkbroadband In an ideal world you want to be running in WPA-PSK mode, with wireless isolation on and broadcast of SSID turned off.
Netgear help within the router If Enabled, the Wireless Stations will be hidden from each other, and will not be able to communicate with each other. For normal situations, this setting should be left at the default value of Disabled.
I never knew I had that option. I didn't realise 2 wireless laptops could communicate wirelessly to each other, and also didn't realise it was done via the router.
