I've got my livebox today but it won't complete setup, I'm asuming that it's Orange who havn't completed set up at their end as I've not receive a confirmation e-mail with my password as promised in the letter and people do say that it's best to wait about ten days after joining (i joined 1/10/07).
But I was just wondering is there a way of finding out if my ethernet socket is actually working? I've done a ping test (ping 192.168.1.1) and it's saying sent - 4 received - 0, does this mean my ethernet socket is working and it's sending a signal out but not getting anthing back from the livebox.
I suppose if this isn't working I can always try and connect wirelessly which is what I want anyway with a usb adapter.
have you used the red socket on the livebox, and if using a laptop, plugged it in the symbol with 3 squares and not the wavy line
Also try typing ipconfig from a command window and see what your default gateway is - you should be able to ping this even if your Orange broadband isn't working
PS It will be better to post only once and not the same post half a dozen times across different threads too
Open the control panel and go into network connections and look for the local area connection.
What status does it show next to it?
Right click and go into status if you can, check the support tab.
What address type and IP address does it display?
