Hi,
I found here after getting sick with Orange and wondering around, and need some help.
I couldn't get the connection for over 2 weeks and after phoneing 0870 every sigle day, i decided i have got to leave.
I am a bit confused by a few thins,
1. I am still within the contract perod. Do I call them to cancel the contract and pay for the fees first or should I get the MAC code first?
2. How likely the ppp will be down again after fixiing? I still have quite a while for the contract, want to hold on as long as possible.
3. what should i do if they refuse or just play around and doesn't do what should be done? currenly i coundn't find anywhere wo complain about the poor serviec.
4. Someone here seems to mention that there is some way to get rid of the cancelation fees, is it really possble please?

If you want to move providers then the best way is with a MAC code, but you mustn't request to cancel the account. If you cancel the account a cease is ordered and then they can't provide a MAC, it means downtime until your line is free and then waiting for the new ISP to activate the line again.

There's no way to be sure, you may never have the problem again or it could come back very quickly.

The best option is to follow the procedures their own policies lay out, ask to speak to a manager etc.

Generally if you're offline for 4 weeks they'll let you cancel without fee without too much hastle. Before that it depends on the issue and who you get to speak to along with what's been done.
yes if you are having tech problems and the agent can see that there are 30 days of quite consistent notes to tech, then they should be able to authorise cancellation of your acc (or MAC code) without canc fee.
Hi thanks for the replies. If I have been disconnected for over 30 days, should I speak to some special manager to get rid of the cancellation fees, or will the customer service simply do that for me?
Cheers

if you try to cancel and they deny waiving cancellation fee as there aren't 30 days of notes (but u have been offline for 30 days) ask to be put through to escalations and then ask the agent in escalations to check when you were last connected (usually takes 48 hours for them to do this) and if the check comes back and it's been over 30 days they will waive the cancellation fee.
The internet can be connected for 1-2 seconds, then lost the signal imediately. This week, the line, the line works for a few hours, then started reconnecting for millions of times, Every time it got connected, it reconnected again.
In this case is it possible to let them dropt he cancellation fees? I have sent a letter to ISPA, hope that would work.

is it losing conenction on both a wired or wireless connection? As I said in my other post if they can see you have been calling up on a consistent basis for 30 days for the same issue they should waive fees
Ahh the ppp server down, one of my friends has got this and it's driving her insane! She's kept phoning up and of rescent apparently, there's a new way that there dealing with it so maybe something will come of it?
With any tech issues though they will cancel an acc when you've been offline for 4 weeks (according to there system) without any fee's applying. If your not happy you can either write in or ask to speak to someone higher, i mean surely they've got to do that?!
Hope it helps!
