I was told that i would have it within 21 days. I have continually phoned Orange to find out what is happening and noone seems to know! My broadband account is not even set up yet! I phoned last Friday and the customer services man i spoke to was lovely. He phoned through to the Broadband people and they said my account would be set up over the weekend and i will have broadband by 2nd July. They said i should phone back on Monday (today) to check that it has been done. I have therefore phoned today ... My account still hasnt been set up. When i asked that they check with the broadband department as to what is happening I am told that customer services have no way of phoning the broadband department and all they could do is email them. What is going on???
I am currently using a dial up connection which is costing me a fortune and is slower than anything! Its now been 25 days with no broadband connection. I cannot see it happening by 2nd July!
I am getting very frustated with not knowing what is going on ... if someone could just tell me something concrete i wouldnt mind! Why do Orange think that if they fob you off all the time then it'll be ok. In reality all they get is grumpy customers. If they just told me the truth then i wouldnt mind.
I've just got off the phone to a 'customer service' adviser where I was trying to find out where my 'Free' internet package had got to. (By the way anyone who really thinks this is free is living in cloud cuckoo land, it does however offer a decent saving over buying the two packages separately)
I'd signed up over Three weeks ago and have heard nothing since..the explanation I got was that it will take up to 20 working days and that they can't tell me if the order has been procesed or if the order has been dispatched. The killer punch was that if I have received nothing by this coming Friday I will have to reregister and start the process again.......BRILLIANT !
it sounds like you are having the same problem as i did.
may i make a suggestion?
when i phoned customer services, i rang the 150 number and then pressed 2 for broadband help. Then i asked the customer services person to check what was happening with my broadband account. They then should ask you for your landline number. When i gave them my landline number they have been saying for the last Three weeks that they have no account set up for that telephone number.
After Three weeks of this, i demanded that they speak to the department who is processing my application. They emailed that department for me and phoned me back that afternoon to say that i would have to re-aaply as for some reason it hadnt been done. They gave me £30 off my next phone bill to compensate. Within hours of me re-applying, i phoned the 150 number and pressed 2 for broadband help and asked them to check on my broadband account. I gave them my landline number and voila ... my account had been set up.
My point is, i think you should check whether your account has been set up. If it hasnt then i think you should assume that it hasnt been ordered. In which case you need to tell them how ridiculous this all is and demand that they put you through to the department who is dealing with the applications. If, as was the case with me, they may say that you can only email that department, i would suggest you do what i did and ask them to email the department for you and phone you back with an update. If the customer services rep cant do all this for you then ask to speak to a supervisor.
Let us know how you get on
And to update on mine. My broadband is working a treat although i still have no livebox! Dont know where it could have got to>
I phoned 150 but instead of trying any of the departments chose the option for those thinking of leaving Orange !
This seemed to have the desired effect (upgraded phone package, new phone) and I've got the pass code for the Free Broadband (I'm not bothered by the Livebox as I am already wireless although I understand that one will eventually turn up.
The only fly in the ointment is that while trying to sort this out Wanadoo over charged me in June. I was told by one of their oiks back in May that I could upgrade my 1mb connection for free instead of for the £20 as stated on the website, silly me I believed them Doh !
They took the DD on the last day before my salary hit my account, which bounced because I was not expecting that amount of money to go out of my account.
I phoned the call centre, told them what had happened and they agreed to credit the account, two days later and obnoxious jobs worth phones me at home threatening to cut me off if I didn't pay immediately by credit card. This I refused to do as a) it was not my fault b)they had already agreed to credit it c)This twit had got so far up my nose that I was not going to agree to anything !
After about twenty minutes of going around in circles matey put me on hold and spoke to a colleague. Low and behold he now agrees that the account is to be credited and that they will re-submit the DD.
Today I tried to use the pass code to activate the free broad band, this is blocked because they say there is outstanding payments ! I've tried phoning but the Call Centre systems have crashed (Tee Hee)
I'll keep you postedjavascript:emoticon('')
