Just want to make sure that I am not going insane and that others are having the same problems as me!!! I have been a Orange mobile customer for years and have had broadband from Wanadoo before it was bought by Orange. I decided to get free broadband and this was when the trouble started!! I was getting really slow speeds so I was told to upgrade to Broadband unlimited for £5 per month. I was told it would definately stop the problem but it really hasnt!! I have spent ages on the phone to Orange. They have done a line test which advised I needed to have a line migration. They told me two seperate dates by which this would be done. Today they have told me the work still isnt done and I need to call on Monday to ask again. I am getting anywhere between 0.5 to 3.5 MB. I lives in Dewsbury West Yorkshire. Anyone else having the same problem!!! God I hate call centre !!!!!!!!!
Anyone thought of speaking to OFCOM and/or Trading Standards about mis-selling in a case such as this ?
Being told to upgrade to a higher priced package to achieve a faster speed then not to actually achieve this, must be classed as mis-selling.
I know OFCOM GC 14 relates to Telecoms mis-selling and "slamming".
Thoughts anyone ?
Thats a fair point actually. I was going to complain on the OFCOM webste but that section was down! Probably too many Orange customers complaining!!!! When they told me to upgrade they even promised that the speed would increase in about an hour!!!!!! I must have called them 30 times now - really gives me the fury !
Sounds a familiar experience to mine. You are not alone mate.
I was mis sold in exactly the sameway back in April. I had no connection at all but was told that if I upgraded to the 8meg Live box this would handle the speeds coming through the line and would get me back on line. Guess what? It didnt. I was offline for a further 5 weeks until I emailed Eric Abensur and they gave me my MAC code with no charge to go elsehwhere.
To make matters worse the girl on the end of the phone said the upgrade was a goodwill gesture to get me back online and I would not incur any charge or contract. Guess what? Yes I was tied in to a 12 month contract. The way I was treated went beyond mis selling, I was deceived.
Last week someone posted a URL to a BBC article about a survey where people were getting much less than their advertised speeds. I can't find the thread, but the article on the BBC technology section gives you a chance to tell you about their experiences - so this may be a good place to share your experiences
