Can anyone please help, 5 weeks and counting and I can still not use this piece of s**t called Orange Broadband. The live box is connected the laptop can see it but everytime i try and validate it throws me out to invalid adsl authentication.
Every time I speak to the muppets in India I am told I need either a new lap top/wireless card or a new network card, my mate is a techie and has run the laptop at his house no problem and I can also jump on other wireless networks in my building.
Has anyone else had same problem and is their a quick fix apart from a new ISP.
Carl

Do you get the same status, Invalid ADSL Authentication, all the time or does it vary?
i get it all the time. my line was activated on the 8th of august, i got my livebox on the 10th of august, i have never got onto the internet. i got a connection cause the redlight is on how it should be, but i cannot log on.
i tried a netgeat router too. broadband is on but can't log on.

If you don't trust my URL, then look at help and support at the top
http://www.orange.co.uk/helpan...dsupport/
click on broadband and dialup
in the question box type change password
click on 1st link
then click on the next link. It looks different to the above, but once you click on it and your browser loads it's the same
1 week was wasted talking every day to the "help" desks in India. To no avail. There's only so many times you can type in the variations of wanadoo, freeserve, orange, BB1, BB2, BB3. BB4, @fs, @freeserve.co.uk etc etc, and the BT_ tests entries.
1 more week with technical support at Middlesborough, and at least here, Christine and Michael at least tried very hard to sort the problem.
A BT Engineer visited this morning, and confirmed what I already knew - there's no fault with the BT line. His own laptiop connected up OK. Bytes are going out and coming in - but I cannot get my Internet or email. He thinks it's an Orange server problem. Why can't they just give me a new user name? (Freeserve / Wanadoo were always fine)
Anyway - good news!!! I'm back on line!
Wanna know how I did it?
I subscribed to Virgin Media instead. The guy came round yesterday afternoon, and I was back in the virtual world within 30 minutes.
PS - while I'm whining on, many friends of mine who use Hotmail, could not accept emails from me on Orange. It seems Hotmail may be blocking correspondence from Orange, 'cos they have a bad reputation for SPAM
Hi all,
I Ordered my Orange BB 1Aug and have had this problem all the way untill now! I've spent hours on the phone to the Indian call centre who basically just fob you off and lie. I've been told there is a line fault and they've done 3 tests. My last conversation with a manager resulted in him telling me he would send an engineer out today (which he didn't bother doing).
I called Tech support today and went ape S**t at a manager. He told me to do the following with then end of my username which i thought would be a waste of time:
changing
@fs
to
@bb.freeserve.co.uk
amazingly this worked! So basically i was given the wrong username - WHY couldn't this have been sorted out in 5mins. If anyones having the same problems give this a go.
Also don't believe a word the tech support guys say. I obviously have no line fault but they were adament i did. I even got BT to carry out a test which reprted no problems. All in all this has to be the worst experience of BB/ technical support i've ever experienced.
No it's not the wrong username as such, the bit after the @ is a gateway and changing the gateway is one of the other things they get you to try. I guess the @fs one is overloaded. @bb.freeserve.co.uk didn't work for me last time I tried it, but @bb4.freeserve.co.uk did
Technically it was the wrong username. The domain is usually set for all connections to @fs but in a few, fairly rare, occasions there's a problem and one of the alternative domains gets used. Orange's sysems don't usually tell you if it's the case, it's usually found much deeper in one of BT's systems. As part of a username/password problem the alternatives should be tried through. They range from @bb.freeserve.co.uk through bb1... to bb4...
