Just sussed it and changed the DNS settings on both the router and the laptop.
Still no joy.
If I can connect in full via LAN (wired) - but still have limited access via wireless - then what it is your expert diagnosis? (despite the obvious, that being to leave Orange and find an alternative ISP).

Lol u aint
Im not familiar with Vista but it should be similar as in XP
If you have the wireless icon near the clock bottom right right click on it and choose open network connections in network connections right click on ur wireless connection icon and choose properties highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on properties then check Use the following DNS server addresses and put in the what u put in ur router click apply and ok.
If that works you will have to do the same with your other PC.

It still seems that its your MTU if you have limited access to certain websites on the wireless one mind you i thought Vista automatically tweaks the TCP settings.

The MTU has been set to 1430 for both the Router and using the command prompt as administrator.
In the command prompt after entering the code you gave me - it displays a simple message saying 'OK', which I'm guessing means that the new MTU has been saved.
As I mentioned before, I use the same router at work - and the connection is fine there - the only difference being that my work's broadband account isn't Orange.

If your wired connection is fine then its something with the wireless configuration what actually happens is it just the limited access? and what type of wireless security are u using.

I had something similar as soon as i tried a different adaptor it was ok i recently tried the old adaptor and the same happened so with me it was the actual adaptor so dont rule that out i assume ur using a different adaptor on the xp laptop?

Hi, yes. The other laptop is a bit of a dinosaur - so it uses Belkin's own adapter - as it connects via a USB wireless adaptor - as opposed to the internal wireless device on my Vista laptop.
