Ouch for 38 days. Thats how long since I signed up, lol. At least you've got your connection / livebox though.
Once again still nothing from Orange for me. Well, it was 'sorted' last thursday, so the 10 day mark is this sunday. So, if theres no hardware on saturday, looks like I'm signing up for the AOL deal. Dell should at least get the laptop sorted, though AOL have plenty of horror stories themselves.
Well I used to be with AOL and NEVER had one single problem with them
By the way I didn't mean Ha for the 38days I meant the discount of £0.00
I know Cjeheth had to "re-sign" up but there must be a problem if nothing after 40 days (nearly) I would get on the phone and stress this fact. and possibly say unless it is sorted you will take it to ofcom etc.
Once again, nothing today. Just checked out the AOL deal, its not as great as originally made out to be (though I guess that should of been expected).
Whilst the Dell laptop looks good, the Inspiron 1520... thats only the ones you can get through Dell themselves. The free AOL one has Vista Home Basic, a Celeron and 80gb harddrive. The £49.99 upgrades that to 120gb and Vista Home Premium, and the £149.99 upgrades it to a reasonable Core Duo. Dell don't do the Celerons on that range anymore, and mehhhh. I'd much rather have the Advent I picked out from Orange.
Oh, and for the AOL deal, you have to sign up to their call packages if you want the cheaper broadband. Without their call packages, or without LLU, its £29.99 a month. With their cheapest, pay as you go package, as long as its through LLU then its £19.99 a month. They basically take the phonecall billing away from BT (though you still pay your line rental and stuff). At least Orange aren't doing that... then again, in my case, orange aren't doing a thing.
strangely I find it difficult to believe that PC World haven't corrected the Acer offer error yet, maybe no-one has the brains there to rectify the mistake....or maybe it isn't a mistake??
yesterday I received another welcome email stating that I would be receiving my modem in next 10 days and that I am now on a (another?) 30 day trial !!
'phoned Orange today & was told that I have now been connected, once again I had to explain that I was actually connected at beginning of August having signed up on 27/7, I asked when my voucher would be sent and was informed it could take up to 5 days - I'd had enough being fobbed off with the 3, 5, 30 day fob offs so demanded to speak with someone in authority to organise the sending of the voucher today, I was put on hold a short time before being advised by another person that the voucher had in fact been sent yesterday and that I should receive it within 5 days, seems a misunderstanding with previous advisor, the voucher was sent from within the UK by 1st class post - the countdown timer is on and I had better not be disappointed.
On the bright side however, I've just been billed for £7.49 for my current first month so looks like the previous month was a freebie seeing as I wasn't connected even though I managed to download well over 6GB on my 2GB monthly limit ;-))
Huzzah! 40 days in and I've recieved the livebox and login details (which have changed). Shall phone them tonight and tell them to send the claims voucher / letter out now for the laptop, lol
haven't received the voucher today. No doubt Orange will be blaming Royal Mail for taking so long for the vouchers to arrive which were supposedly posted on the 4th Sept, strange that I've received two packages today which were both posted on the 5th Sept, one by 1st class post the other by standard parcels.
nothing in this morning's post, just called Orange twice, spoke to the supervisor and was advised that I should receive it by Tuesday
I've got to the stage where I can't believe anything they're telling me
would you believe that they're still using UK postal strikes as a possible excuse......although having thought about it seeing as they're based in India it shouldn't be so surprising
does anyone have a working telephone number for their complaints dept please? - the one previously mentioned doesn't work (0113 222 9100)
Huzzah! Switched over to Orange this morning. Speeds are reasonable (no different than BT) but won't know till the afternoon how the lack of throttling makes a difference. Just gotta wait on the laptop voucher. Ah well, another 40 days then.
No letter this morning (but I wasn't expecting it till later in the week). Connection is all up and running now and is fairly stable (switched over on the saturday, and the afternoon had a lot of intermittent connection issues, but thats most likely due to resyncs).
In fact, its more stable than BT is. Not once have I had to reset the livebox, compared to BT's homehubs requiring hard reboots at the wall due to crashing 3 or 4 times a day (and thats on both of them I had). Had a little issue trying to set a PC to connect via USB, the USB drivers weren't on the disc, but grabbing the zip of the old wannado box sorted that and its working like a charm (DS over wifi, PC 1 over Ethernet (red), PC 2 over Usb, Xbox 360 on Ethernet (yellow)).
[edit] Oh, but there is a strange thing where my speedtests (I've been sure to keep them at least daily so far) are coming up with my ISP as Cable and Wireless. I'm guessing that could be because the C&W LLU is enabled at our exchange but Orange don't have one, and it might be cheaper for Orange to rent the line via them instead of BT.
