I ordered Orange broadband on the 25 July via currys because of the free laptop offer. I chose a decent ultra mobile laptop that i am happy with.
I received a letter from Orange saying that i was up and running on the 9th of august and i had already received my livebox. i connected it all successfully and.....you guessed....problems. The message NO ADSL AUTHENTICATION came up. i will cut this real short. I had called the call centre maybe 15 times over the next 2 weeks after the activation date. i have never spoken to such timewasting jokers. well. 7 line tests later and 4 escalations, i am still not connected to the internet. i changed my password, waited 24 hours and the message changed to ppp server down.
again, back to tech help. lies lies lies. promises of callbacks. they said that they will perform more line tests. etc etc. i am done with this company. it is 4th september, and i have NEVER connected to the internet with Orange. i spoke to a superviser. i have told him, that i want free of this fraudulent lying company if no connection was made by the 10th september (1 month after activation) he agreed and said to call on the 10th for my MAC code and my sanity,at no cost to me, plus i want every penny back that i have wasted on phone calls. i am now hoping that they don't fix the problem the day before. i cannot deal with this company for the next 18 months.
I so want to join ADSL24. I have spent so much time on the phone, been lied to many times, i personally think that they are so buried under with the amount of new problems and new customers that they can't cope.
I will turn anyone away that i know that may show interest in joining Orange, i see the sign in the high street now and see it in a totally different light, evil.

keep us posted on how you get on.
i'm 21 days into my connection, and it's been down for the last 18, so i'll may be persuing the same route...
When I spoke to one of the rep, he gave me a shocker yesterday (saying the fault which is logged for my line is stuck in the system and no body looked into it for 10 working days !!!!...).. absolutely disgraceful.. I couldnt take it anymore so ordered for MAC number.
I would certainly recommend you to talk to the customer service [Pref in the morning UK time] and get to know whats happening in your case.
i just gave ADSL24 a call. asked if i was on LLU. he ran a check on my line and said i wasn't. so it would be a free migration. phew!!! Although he did say my exchange had LLU in there. just not on my line.

But did he say if your line was broadband enabled, if it's not, then you don't need a MAC, just sign up with ADSL24. Perhaps you should check with him again, he/you may have misunderstood each other

Hi, yes, my line already has broadband. i have just never been able to connect to Orange's servers. I always had the light on the router.
The guys at ADSL24 confirmed this, as well as other isp providers when i test my line on their sites. they say that ADSL internet is already actice on my line.
Right, 30 days are up today, still with no connection. So as per my earliar post, i called Orange tech help, so that they could honour what they had said last week. That if i was not up and running on/after 30 days i could leave at no cost to me and that i could have my MAC code. Well, first of all they denied that they had agreed that. I was furious, shouting down the phone. LIES LIES LIES, I SIMPLY CANNOT DEAL WITH A COMPANY THAT LIES TO ITS CUSTOMERS, ITS FRAUDULENT. after a 30 min battle with the guy in india, he refusing to put me onto a supervisor, saying that they were busy for 3 hours. call back!!!! I said that i was definately NOT calling back as i want this resolved NOW once and for all. "i don't care who you put me through to, make sure you can put me onto someone who can make things happen now" "not in 3 hours, not tomorrow or in 2 days time, NOW. I was furious.
I have been given the runaround for 30 days now, calling almost every second or third day to be told the same things. This is not acceptable service. i have never been connected to the internet from the 1st day that i signed up with them (27 July)
I was put through to customer service from then, i spoke to a slightly more understanding guy. nonetheless, he said he could not authorise the account to be cancelled, off i went again, thought i was gonna burst a blood vessel. I repeated, "well put me through to someone that can authorise it, i am fed up with talking to you powerless people, i am not spending another penny calling you up to do your jobs, you have provided me with nothing, do you hear me sir, NOTHING IN 30 DAYS".
At that, i think he got the point, realised my stress levels and that i was a customer that they were simply not going to keep hold of or fob off anymore. He was aware that enought was enough. I was then put onto a very polite guy who said that, the account was going to cease at no cost to myself, that he was generating my MAC code now and i should receive it in 2-5 working days, he said sorry for all the inconvenience it had caused me. THAT WAS IT.
Now i feel so happy to be free of Orange, i hate this company, and whenever i see the Orange shops on the high street i do feel pretty depressed.
I am free of them now and can't wait to sign up with ADSL24. I was one of the customers who went for the £300 discount off any laptop. i still have the laptop and it was not mentioned. I paid £300 on top of the discount to get a £600 ultra mobile one that i like very much. I suppose this will be something that Orange will have to sort out with Currys, lets call it compensation.
Well, guys, i hope this has given you all strength to fight to the end. as for me, i will believe i am free of them once my new ISP is up and running, but for now i am happy.

This still requires OFCOM/ISPA involvement. Unless they know about these cases then Orange do not get investigated and therefore continue on their merry way, annoying everybody in sight.
Just because you're moving to another ISP doesn't mean that your complaint has been resolved.
