I am on the 8meg package and everything was fine until the LLU upgrade which reduced download to 0.4meg. I complained to Orange with regard to breach of contract (i.e. not getting the speed that I signed up for and that I was receiving) and the next day, normal service resumed. although not 8 meg, 6 meg is all that I was expecting due to distance from exchange, etc... (Orange did quote 7.5meg in the upgrade email though).
I was with Orange BB for about 2 months lured by the promise of fast cheap BB. I had the same problems i.e. slow speed, intermittent service and technical support that blamed everyone else other than Orange. So after a while I decided to get out and went to Be. The problem seemed to be that Orange BB could not cope with the number of new customers and with this "free laptop" offer I don't think things will get better.
Just to give you an idea about how poor the Orange LLU BB can be my average with them was 450kbps and below is my speed with Be. I am still connected through the same line and exchange the only difference is my provider.

soulboy - showing good speeds from Be compared to his Orange LLU.
Chix - however does not appear to be LLU but IPstream Max which is a BT product bought in by Orange. Customers on this system always used to have good speeds but of late there are many reporting poor speeds. One would presume that this is the fault of BT, although it is down to Orange to sort out.
Does anyone know why Orange customers on Max are having problems - I wonder it BT customers have the same problems?

Chix is also showing the classic signs of the connection being profiled to 135kbps downstream. Should fix itself within 3 days all being well.
Good advice from Elhana - I would advise that you leave the router on, after 3 days of connection your speed should go up. If you keep re-booting it the system will think there is a fault and lower the speed.
TILEHURST echange has been down since at least 11th July. Orange are pants and I hate them. They don't even have the decency to offer a dial-up replacement. Have been "guaranteed" by the muppet at customer services AND spt that it will go on "at some point" tomorrow. I won't be holding my breath!
oh and to check the max capabale on your line for your postcode try www.samknows.com then the availbility checker. hope that helps someone
Postcode checks are far from ideal, always do the check using your actual phone number where possible.
Also remember any checker result is a guide speed and you may end up with a faster or slower speed depending on your actual line and there have been a number of times, some shown on this forum, where the speed shown is wildly wrong.
Newington, Edinburgh. 380m from exchange. 8mb package,
0.5 meg speeds max. Want to * many puppies. And tiny kittens. And post them to Orange.
DSL ZoneUK and Samknows both state the exchange as not being Orange llu enabled, which would presumably mean im on this adslmax thing. Am posting a seperate topic with stats and stuff, please look if you think you could help.
