think the problem lies with your extension, as you seem to be getting better speeds with your master socket, it dont appear your capped just you get slower speeds using ur extension leads, if you want top speeds or decent speeds i suggest you stick with your master socket for now.
try leaving your livebox on for 3 days, without turning it off, it may help stablise your speeds.
I've taken my Livebox upstairs along with my laptop, unscrewed the case and found the master connector. I've had to use a filter to connect as I didn't have the right lead otherwise.
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 3000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 6752 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 2754 kbps
SO...i'm still being capped, my extension is without doubt causing some kind of problems and right at this moment it actually looks like Orange is not at fault? About right? Last thing...how do I remove the cap, is this that 3 days thing I've read about on here?
Yeah looks like the extension is a major factor. You may be able to just replace that to fix the problem there but I agree with Nitty that it would at least be best to leave it connected there, if possible, to establish the connection will go upto a profile of 5000 or 5500kbps. As already mentioned that'll take roughly 3 days so the system thinks the connection is stable at that speed.
Well after being filled with optimism from my previous findings I'm back again to hating Orange and here's why:
I left my Livebox sync'd for 2 days and then accidentally unplugged it heh so have just left it connected for a further 4 days and the IP profile has been lifted. I could tell it had been lifted because my speedtest results were above 2900kbps, very briefly going to 3000 where before it was a solid no pass ceiling with the profile.
Sure enough with a speedtester.BT test I verified this just now:
IP profile for your line is - 3500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 4384 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 811 kbps
My profile had been raised to 3500kbps. So....I disconnected and reconnected to get my sync higher in the Livebox settings:
Great I thought....(I did the Livebox first btw incase you're wondering why i've gone about the houses here) but then got a speedtest result to London and Maidenhead of both under 1900kbps. speedtester.BT then gives me an utterly naff throughput of 811kbps on a sync speed of almost 5mbps.
This my friends is why Orange are utter cr@p. You put all this work in to eliminate your end of problems and in the end it just shows they're the ones with the poor service. 811kbps.........utter joke.
Now, I could sit here re-newing my IP to get better, but this is the same position i was in before that got me IP profiled at 3mbps...no win.
