hi all,

i have been having massive problems with DNS resolution on Orange for the past week, it looks as if manually setting the DNS servers will fix this, below is copied from the settings page of this website.

Domain name service is dynamic - but if domain name server (DNS) addresses are required, you should use:

* 195.92.195.94 and 195.92.195.95

Or, if you experience problems with the above, use:

* 193.36.79.101 and 193.36.79.100

hope this helps someone else as it solved mine (im guessing Orange changed something recently as automatic DNS has worked fine for me for the past 6 months

Try OpenDNS servers

Primary: 208.67.222.222
Secondary : 208.67.220.220

If they work ok its definately Oranges DNS servers

I've tried all of DNS ip addresses above (orange and open DNS servers)

I'm still not able to view over half the sites i'd like to.

Any suggestions?

Check the menu on here and click "MTU Settings". If you can get some but not all sites then this might resolve it.

Hi,

Change of MTU settings + DNS server IPs seems to have 'fixed' the problems (for now)

A complete nightmare, I ended up having to use my mobile phone to download Dr.TCP as I couldn't access any sites to download the software from.

Why haven't Orange released a patch? This is such a simple fix. I remember when I first got ADSL during it's testing stages in 2000, BT released a MTU patch so why can't Orange pull their fingers out and do the same?!

MTU/RWIN is much too technical for Orange to know about.....and they would be admitting a server problem if they advised to use OpenDNS.

Lol,

Either that or it seems to me that Orange are making a nice healthy profit from their premium rate helpline.

Now why would they go and ruin a nice little earner?

Of course........that's where the £100m has come from to finance the new speech recognition helpline !!!

It's obvious now why they don't spend it on resolving the problems.
