We were cut off the internet for the second weekend running after receiving the "you are using 43GB so thats too much, use less or else" letter.
We called Orange and they told us (after keeping us on the line for god know show long on a 50p a min line) that BT were having problems with the lines and it should come back on within 24hours (convenient that 24 hours would be the end of the weekend)
We called BT and they had no idea what we were talking about.....
Are there NO ISPs which have no fair use policy? or, an ISP with a fair use policy which is actually fair? and whom dont lie? and whom dont have a customer service line which is 50p/min!
We are complaining and billing Orange for our calls to them.
Generally if you want a true unlimited service with no FUP at all be prepared to pay through the nose for it. There are a few with good FUP's but you need to check what they currently are and what their policy is towards changing them etc.

Well someone i know is currently with BT and another is with Pipex.....both have been told anywhere between 100-300GB. We are thinking of moving to BT.
BT, rather than canceling your contract inform the top 2% of users that in peak times if they dont cut down their bandwidth will be slightly less than the ones who use it less.
I personally think those who use the net a LOT should get the majority of the space, where as those who use less or hardly any get slightly slower speeds....but thats just me.

And I actually think that those who use the net less should pay less and those that use all the net a lot should pay a lot lot more.seeing as those that use it less actually subsidise those that use it a lot, bandwidth is not free.and thats just my opinion.I got out of Orange and now pay for what i use,no traffic shaping at peak times or anything. And if i want to go over my monthly allowance I buy more gb in.unlimited bb is going to be on its way out very soon.

There is no way that anyone with Pipex or BT have been told that.
Both have a FUP my cousin is with BT and had 2 letters recently about her usage reminding her of the FUP, my brother is with Pipex and is leaving as soon has his contract is up.
Try going with one of the smaller providers they have straightforward caps they do not advertise unlimited and they usually charge for what ever you go over per gig or in blocks they also usually provide a record of what ur downloading in your member login { a few like IDNet do not include uploads) so u can see what ur using which most of the big providers fail to provide.
