Ill use this forum to record my adventures with Orange Broadband,
I used the internet OK yesterday morning then at Lunchtime the Phones stopped working as well as my internet, An hour later Phones back on but no Internet........ ? '@' symbol flashing on my Livebox.
Called Orange and went through the Fast learn to speak Indian pidgeon english lesson and was advised to re-enter all my account details, WHY? I have 2 PC's and they both cannot have caused this fault, The Livebox functions without a PC to detect the Net so why the crap ??
After failing to reconnect me with useless advice and general waffle
they advised me they would notify an engineer to test the connection within 48 hours and not to use my phone until he rings ??
Im at work today my wife rung and told me that the engineer had rung but as i was at work he couldnt do anything and would ring back at 1900 to try again............Ill let you know what happens next (I bet most of you can guess)
NO Engineer rung last night as promised, so nearly 2 days without connection.
My connection when I go into the Orange Livebox status is displaying 'PPP SERVER DOWN', Does this mean my telephone line is OK??
Any answer to this would be appreciated as will save me calling BT. - Thanks.
I don't understand why Orange are still using this 'ring back in 48 hours' excuse.
Last September my connection went down for 2 weeks and every time I rang I was given this same bull.
Basically it's a just a lie to fob you off.
I got fed up, moved to Idnet and have never had a disconnection since then.
I strongly advise you to do the same as Orange do nothing but lie and rob.

If the internet is not connected the phone attached to Livebox does not work - although it does revert to a normal phone on BT line, so all callls are costing you money.
PPP SERVER DOWN
This is is generally a network/exchange fault.
First re-enter your username and password.
Others have solved this by installing another router or their Speedtouch 330 modem instead of Livebox - getting a connection - then going back to Livebox. There are several reports of this working.
Others have also solved the problem by changing the normal settings:
No thanks to Orange though, its thanks to you on this forum THANKYOU!!
I tried the PPPOE and got no joy still PPP SERVER DOWN so i dug out my speed touch 330 modem I downloaded the new Vista drivers at work i installed them and plugged in the modem and it worked - connected.
Then I unplugged the Speedtouch and reconnected the Livebox and im back on sending this reply via the connection.
Ill test it out for a bit and let you know if it fails again but THANKS again!!
